David Pepose
David Pepose is an American Script (comics), comics writer and former crime reporter who has written for Marvel Comics and Alternative comics, independent comics. His book ''Spencer & Locke'' was nominated multiple times for the Ringo Awards and he won in 2021 for Best Single Issue for his self-published comic ''The O.Z.'' Career Pepose worked as a reviewer and editor at Newsarama before deciding to write his own comics. His first comic, ''Spencer & Locke'', was published through Action Lab Comics in 2017 with artist Jorge Santiago. It was described as "What would you get if you crossed ''Calvin and Hobbes'' and ''Sin City''?" It was optioned for a movie by Adrian Askarieh, the producer of the ''Hitman'' films, and was nominated for Best Series at the 2018 Ringo Awards. In 2019, he and Santiago put out a sequel, ''Spencer & Locker 2'', which satirized Beetle Bailey, which was also nominated in the 2020 Ringo Awards. ''Spencer & Locke'' is a neo-noir psychological thriller comic book by writer David Pepose and artist Jorge Santiago, Jr. Its first issue was published April 2017 by Action Lab Comics. Carnage (character)
Carnage is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as an adversary of Spider-Man and the archenemy of his father Venom, in particular the Eddie Brock incarnation of the character, although Carnage and Venom have joined forces when their goals have aligned. The character made its first appearance in '' The Amazing Spider-Man'' #361 (April 1992), and was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Mark Bagley, although the first published artwork of Carnage was penciled by Chris Marrinan. Stan Lee would also have some input in the character's name and attributes, pushing for a character who would be far darker and more vicious than Venom, due to the latter's more scrupulous character development. Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to attract new readers to independent comic book stores. It usually takes place on the first Saturday of May and has historically been cross-promoted with the release of a superhero film. Over two thousand participating stores give away millions of comic books annually. The event was proposed by Joe Field in the August 2001 issue of '' Comics & Games Retailer'' magazine and Free Comic Book Day was launched in 2002, coordinated by the industry's single large distributor, Diamond Comic Distributors. ''Speed Racer'', also known as , is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuo Yoshida. It was originally serialized in print in Shueisha's 1966 ''Shōnen Book''. It was released in form by Sun Wide Comics and later re-released in Japan by Fusosha.
