David Payton
David Bruce Payton (born c. 1952) was the Administrator of Tokelau from 17 October 2006 to 2009. Payton joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1975, where he worked in the aid division assisting Niue. From 1977-79 he was posted the New Zealand High Commission in Nuku'alofa, Tonga Tonga, officially the Kingdom of Tonga, is an island country in Polynesia, part of Oceania. Niue is a self-governing island country in free association with New Zealand. It is situated in the South Pacific Ocean and is part of Polynesia, and predominantly inhabited by Polynesians. Terence O'Brien (New Zealand Diplomat)
Terence Christopher O'Brien (6 January 1936 – 30 December 2022) was a New Zealand diplomat. He led New Zealand in 1993 to a seat on the United Nations Security Council and played a strong role in helping to reshape New Zealand's perceptions of itself as a small but fiercely independent nation in the South Pacific. Early life O'Brien was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, on 6 January 1936. His father, Wing Commander Oliver James O'Brien, was a pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF) who was sent to New Zealand during the Second World War including to train pilots who fought in the battle of Britain. In 1940, he moved with his mother and sister to New Zealand by boat, narrowly avoiding being torpedoed by German U-boats, to follow his father who had taken up a post as Chief Air Instructor to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) during the Second World War. Neil Walter
Neil Douglas Walter (born 1942) is a New Zealand diplomat, and a former Administrator of Tokelau, a territory of New Zealand. He served from February 1988 until 1990, and again from 1 March 2003 to 17 October 2006. Biography In his early career in the Foreign Service, Walter served in Thailand, New York, and Samoa. In 1981, Walter was posted to New Zealand's Embassy in Paris, where he was the New Zealand Permanent Representative to UNESCO. In 1985, Walter became New Zealand's deputy High Commissioner to London. Walter was New Zealand's Ambassador to Indonesia from 1990–1994, and served as New Zealand's Ambassador to Japan from 1997–1999. In 1999, Walter became Secretary of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs, until his retirement from the diplomatic service in 2002. John Allen (diplomat)
John Richard Allen is a New Zealand public servant. From 2009 to 2014 he served as chief executive of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (New Zealand), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He was the acting Administrators of Tokelau, Administrator of Tokelau from 2009 until 2011. Allen was born in Hamilton, New Zealand.
