David Norris (speedway Rider)
David Michael Norris (born 20 August 1972, in Eastbourne, England) is a former British international motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 20 international caps for the England national speedway team and 8 caps for the Great Britain team. Career Norris had stints with Reading Racers and Ipswich Witches, but primarily rode for the Eastbourne Eagles in the British League, Premier League, and Elite League. In 2007, he overtook Gordon Kennett as the Eagles' leading scorer, accumulating 5,197 points from just 577 meetings. As an Eastbourne rider, he twice averaged over 9, in 1994 (9.18) and 2004 (9.95). He won the league title with the club in 2000 and the Knockout Cup with the team on three occasions in 1994, 1997 and 2002. Gordon William Kennett (2 September 1953 – 11 September 2023) was an English motorcycle speedway rider. In 1978, he won the World Pairs Championship and finished runner-up to Ole Olsen in the 1978 Individual Speedway World Championship, at Wembley.Bamford, R. & Shailes, G. (2002). Dean Barker (born 2 August 1970) is a former British international motorcycle speedway rider who competed at the sports highest level until his retirement in 2007. He earned 14 caps for the England national speedway team and 4 caps for the Great Britain national speedway team. Speedway career Barker first rode for Eastbourne Eagles during the 1986 National League season, although he only appeared in 14 matches that season he contributed to a league and cup double winning season for the south coast club. The following season in 1987, Barker and Eastbourne repeated the success to record the 'double double'. He was one of Eastbourne's leading riders by the time Oxford Cheetahs came in to sign him for the 1990 British League season, where he would ride alongside Hans Nielsen (speedway rider), Hans Nielsen. 2005 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2005 Speedway Grand Prix was the 60th edition of the official World Championship and the 11th season in the Speedway Grand Prix era used to determine the Speedway World Champion. Event format The format was changed for GP 2005 with 16 riders (instead of 24) taking part in each Grand Prix event, and over the course of 20 heats each rider started in 5 heats and raced against every other rider once (which is the classical round-robin formula of the individual tournament). The top eight scorers advanced to two semi-final heats, and the first and second riders from each semi-final advanced to the GP final heat. The 2004 Speedway Grand Prix was the 59th edition of the official World Championship and the tenth season in the Speedway Grand Prix era used to determine the Speedway World Champion. After finishing second in 2001, 2002 and 2003, Jason Crump broke through to become Australia's first Individual World Champion since Jack Young had won his second straight World title in 1952.
