David Narey
David Narey (born 12 June 1956) is a former Scottish international footballer who played as a defender. Narey spent 21 years with Dundee United, winning the Scottish championship once and the league cup twice. He also played in numerous cup runs in Europe, including playing in the 1983–84 European Cup semi final and the 1987 UEFA Cup final. Although best remembered as a central defender, he occasionally played in midfield. After leaving United, he won the 1994–95 Scottish League Cup with Raith Rovers. He collected 35 full caps for Scotland including playing in two World Cups. Narey opened the scoring for Scotland against Brazil with a 20-yard drive in the 1982 FIFA World Cup. He is a Scottish Football Hall of Fame inductee as he is also at Dundee United. Early life Narey was born and brought up in Dundee and attended St John's Roman Catholic High School. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding valuable service in a wide range of useful activities. It comprises five classes of awards across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a Orders, decorations, and medals of the United Kingdom#Modern honours, knight if male or a dame (title), dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with the order, but are not members of it. Scottish Football League
The Scottish Football League (SFL) is a defunct league featuring professional and semi-professional football clubs mostly from Scotland.One club, Berwick Rangers, is based in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, which is located approximately 4 km south of the Anglo-Scottish border. From its foundation in 1890 until the breakaway Scottish Premier League (SPL) was formed in 1998, the SFL was the top level of football in Scotland. After 1998, the SFL represented levels 2 to 4 of the Scottish football league system. In June 2013, the SFL merged with the SPL to form the Scottish Professional Football League. James William Thomas Hill, Order of the British Empire, OBE (22 July 1928 – 19 December 2015) was an English football in England, footballer and later a television personality. His career included almost every role in the sport, including player, trade union leader, coach, manager, director, chairman, television executive, presenter, pundit, analyst and Assistant referee (association football), assistant referee. The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in November 1982. 1981 Scottish Cup Final
The 1981 Scottish Cup Final was played on 9 May 1981 at Hampden Park in Glasgow and was the final of the 96th Scottish Cup. Rangers and Dundee United contested the match. The first match, saw Dundee United start strongly, but fail to score. Rangers had the chance to win the match when they won a penalty at the end of normal time, but Ian Redford's effort was saved by Hamish McAlpine. After a period of extra time the match finished goalless. The replay took place on 12 May 1981, Rangers ran out easy winners, beating Dundee United, whose players appeared not to have recovered from the first match, 4–1. This was the last Final contested with a replay; beginning in the subsequent year, extra time and penalty shootouts were used to determine the winner on the same day.
