David McKee
David John McKee (2 January 1935 – 6 April 2022), was a British writer and illustrator, chiefly of children's books and animations. For his contribution as a children's illustrator, he was UK nominee for the biennial international Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2006. Early life David John McKee was born on 2 January 1935 and raised in Tavistock, Devon, England. After attending grammar school, he studied at Plymouth College of Art. While still at college, he began selling one-off cartoons, particularly to the national press. On leaving college, he continued this to support himself while painting, drawing regularly for, among others, '' Punch'', ''Reader's Digest'', and '' The Times Educational Supplement''. The first book he sold was of a story he had told at college, ''Two Can Toucan''. It is about a toucan who can carry two cans of paint on its enormous bill. Tavistock, Devon
Tavistock ( ) is an ancient stannary and market town and civil parish in the West Devon district, in the county of Devon, England. It is situated on the River Tavy, from which its name derives. ''Fimbles'' is a British children's television series created and produced by Novel Entertainment. The series has 200 episodes, airing from September 23, 2002 to September 24, 2004 with repeats airing until early 2012 on CBeebies. The Fimbles are Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom, three magical characters who all live in a bright, lush, and colorful place called Fimble Valley. ''Maisy'' is a British preschool animated children's television series based on the book series of the same name by Lucy Cousins. The series aired from 11 February 1999 to 2 November 2000 on CITV and consisted of 26 episodes, with each episode being made up of four segments. It won the British Academy Children's Award for Pre-School Animation in 2000. Plot The show focuses on the lives of Maisy Mouse and all her friends. A mellow-voiced narrator narrates the action and communicates with the characters while the animals go through their paces communicating through unusual noises rather than traditional language. His works have been widely praised for their contributions to child literacy. Anthony Lee Ross (born 10 August 1938) is a British author and illustrator of children's picture books. In Britain, he is best known for writing and illustrating his Little Princess books and for illustrating the Horrid Henry series by Francesca Simon, both of which have become TV series for Milkshake! and CITV respectively based on his artwork. King Rollo
King Rollo is a children's character, created by David McKee in 1980. He is the main character in a series of books, animations narrated by Ray Brooks, and a comic strip in the magazine ''Buttons''. Thirteen episodes of the animation were produced in 1980 by McKee's own King Rollo Films, where the character is the company's mascot and namesake, and were originally shown as part of the pre-school 'See-Saw' strand. Rollo himself is a childlike king who is always in need of advice and assistance from his friends.
