David McLean (rugby League)
David McLean (born 5 October 1977) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Balmain Tigers and the Penrith Panthers in the NRL. Playing career A Parramatta junior, McLean was graded by the now defunct Balmain Tigers in 1997. He made his first grade debut from the bench in his side's 30−16 loss to the Newcastle Knights at Leichhardt Oval in round 23 of the 1998 season. This was his only game of first grade for Balmain. The Tigers finished the season in 13th position and folded at the end of following the season. McLean remained at Balmain during the 1999 season, but did not make any appearances in first grade. Balmain controversially merged with rivals the Western Suburbs Magpies to form the Wests Tigers as part of the NRL's rationalization strategy. The NSW Cup, currently known as the Knock-On Effect NSW Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a rugby league competition for clubs in New South Wales. The competition has a history dating back to the NSWRFL's origins in 1908, starting off as a reserve grade competition, and is now the premier open age competition in the state. The NSW Cup was the Reserve Grade/Presidents Cup/First Division from 1908 until 2002, and the NSWRL Premier League from 2003 to 2007, the NSW Cup from 2008 to 2015, the Intrust Super Premiership NSW from 2016 to 2018, the Canterbury Cup NSW from 2019 to 2020. The Central Coast is a peri-urban region in New South Wales, Australia, lying on the Tasman Sea coast to the north of Sydney and south of Newcastle. The local government area of the Central Coast Council has an estimated population of 333,627 as of June 2018, growing by 1% annually. Central Coast Division Rugby League
The Central Coast Division of Country Rugby League is a rugby league competition based on the Central Coast of New South Wales between Sydney and Newcastle. It is currently ran by Terrigal Junior and longtime volunteer Ben Spackman he has been president for both Terrigal junior and senior clubs and has coached multiple teams throughout his years at the club. Spackman has been running the central coast competition for multiple years now and has made significant changes to the central coast competitions. It was founded in 1947 as a junior competition for the Newcastle club, Lakes United. In 1967, it was upgraded again to full membership of the Country Rugby League as Group 12. In 1981, it was renamed Central Coast Division. The division covers the entire region of the Central Coast from Woy Woy and Umina in the south up to Budgewoi and Gwandalan in the north. Ourimbah Wyoming Magpies
The Ourimbah Wyoming Magpies are an Australian rugby league football club based in the suburb of Ourimbah on the Central Coast of NSW. They have numerous teams competing in competitions run by the Central Coast Division of Country Rugby League, from U/7s through to First Grade. The Magpies' current home ground is Bill Sohier Park and their traditional colours are black and white. History Ourimbah cites its establishment date as 1913, when the club competed in Second Grade of the Newcastle Rugby Union. The team were runners-up to North Newcastle, losing the Final by 18 points to nine. Ourimbah was a founding member of the Central Coast's first organised rugby league competition in 1915, along with Erina, Matcham, Wyong and Yarramalong. Country Rugby League
The Country Rugby League of New South Wales (CRL), formed in 1934 and disbanded in 2019, was the governing body for the sport of rugby league football in areas of New South Wales outside the Sydney metropolitan area until it merged with NSW Rugby League in 2019. The CRL was superseded by 6 NSWRL Country Divisions represented by 4 members of the nine-person NSWRL board. Despite its name, the CRL also governed rugby league in the Australian Capital Territory.
