''Home and Away'' (''H&A'') is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Bateman came up with the concept of the show during a trip to Kangaroo Point, New South Wales, where he noticed locals were complaining about the construction of a foster home and against the idea of foster children from the city living in the area. The soap opera was initially going to be called ''Refuge'', but the name was changed to the "friendlier" title of ''Home and Away'' once production began. Eden Fowler
Eden Fowler is a fictional character from the Australian television soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Stephanie Panozzo. She is one of four characters, along with Bob Forsyth (Rob Mallett), Remi Carter (Adam Rowland) and Kirby Aramoana (Angelina Thomson), who were introduced to the show as members of the fictional band Lyrik. They were introduced following the departure of four cast members that same year. After learning of the role, Panozzo sent in a self-tape to the show's casting producers, before she was invited to Sydney for an audition. However, she could not fly after testing positive for COVID-19, which left her fearing she had lost the role. The producers invited her to audition over a Zoom call instead and her agent later informed her that she had secured the role. Panozzo relocated to Sydney from Melbourne a week later. Marilyn Chambers (also Bryant and Fisher) is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Emily Symons. She made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 18 May 1989. When Symons auditioned for the role she created a backstory for the character and dressed in a mini dress, stilettos and put on a breathy voice. Ruth "Roo" Stewart (also Morgan) is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Justine Clarke from 1988 to 1989. The character made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 January 1988. Clarke quit the role in 1989 and the character was written out. In August 2010, it was announced that Roo would return to ''Home and Away'' with Georgie Parker in the role. The character returned on 29 October 2010. John Palmer is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Shane Withington. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 27 March 2009.
