David Kozier
David Kozier (born April 8, 1978 in Terrace, British Columbia) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Kozier first played at junior level for the Prince George Spruce Kings in his native British Columbia. After scoring 89 points in 58 regular season games, Kozier moved on to play at university level. Kozier attended university in the United States, playing at NCAA level for Cornell University. Kozier combined his studies in Applied Economics and Business Management along with playing for the famously named 'Big Red'. In four seasons playing for Cornell, Kozier totalled more than 50 points as well as clocking 80 penalty minutes. He was also a member of the Quill and Dagger society. His form at NCAA level led him to sign for the Isle of Wight Raiders, now renamed the Wightlink Raiders. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the Blue line (ice hockey), blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. 1998–99 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Season
The 1998–99 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began on October 3, 1998, and concluded with the 1999 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament's championship game on April 3, 1999, at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim in Anaheim, California. This was the 52nd season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held and is the 105th year overall where an NCAA school fielded a team. The 1998-99 season was the inaugural year for Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's hockey division. Because only Canisius, Fairfield, and Iona were full members of the MAAC, five additional associate members were included to make the conference viable. All five teams had been part of ECAC lower classifications in the past (as had Canisius, Fairfield and Iona) and were promoted to Division I for the 1998-99 season.
