David Howard (October 6, 1896 – December 21, 1941) was an American film director. He directed 46 films between 1930 and 1941. David E. T. Howard (1952) is an American photographic artist. Howard collaborated with Keith Haring, Christo, Nam June Paik when, in the late 1980s, he created the documentary series: "Art Seen" that featured in excess of 120 programs; it was created in artists' studios, broadcast on PBS, and televised in more than 17 American cities. Works and accomplishments The San Francisco Chronicle and The Village Voice have described Howard as "An experimental photographer of amazing ability." Howard interviewed photographers Ansel Adams, Aaron Siskind, Jerry Uelsmann, and Ralph Gibson and in 1978 published their interviews in his book entitled: "Perspectives." David Howard (sailor)
David Ewart Howard (5 March 1918 – 21 January 2023) was a Canadian sailor who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics. Just prior to his death at age 104, Howard was the second oldest Olympian in the world after Uruguayan sailor Félix Sienra who died 9 days later at age 107. With Howard's death, alpine skier Rhoda Wurtele became the oldest Canadian Olympian at age 101, and Stanley Leibel became the oldest Canadian summer Olympian at age 95. Early life and military career When young, Howard and his four brothers were yachting enthusiasts, all having graduated from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club’s junior program. David Howard (born December 8, 1961) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots. He also was a member of the Los Angeles Express in the United States Football League. He played college football at Long Beach State University. Early years Howard attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he was the city co-player of the year in 1978. He accepted a football scholarship from Oregon State University and was a starter as a freshman at linebacker, but decided to transfer to Long Beach State at the end of the season. He was named the starter at middle linebacker as a sophomore. As a senior, he registered 89 tackles (51 solo), 6 tackles for loss and 2 fumble recoveries. David Wayne Howard (born February 26, 1967) is an American professional baseball scout and former Major League Baseball player. He was a utilityman who played in the majors from through for the Kansas City Royals (1991–97) and St. Louis Cardinals (1998–99). Listed at 6 feet (1.8 m) and 175 lb. David Howard (born 1959) is a New Zealand poet, writer and editor. His works have been widely published and translated into a variety of European languages. Howard was the co-founder of the literary magazine ''takahē'' in 1989 and the Canterbury Poets Collective in 1990. In New Zealand he held the Robert Burns Fellowship at the University of Otago in Dunedin in 2013, the Otago Wallace Residency, in Auckland in 2014, and the Ursula Bethell Residency in Christchurch, in 2016. David Howard (born David Charles Edwards) (14 June 1937 – 11 August 2013) was an English ballet dancer and teacher, who taught internationally at institutions such as the Royal Ballet, the American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, and the National Ballet of Canada. Howard opened his popular eponymous dance studio in New York City, the David Howard School of Ballet (later the David Howard Dance Center) in 1977, before its closure in 1995. His dance center welcomed all students including children, adult beginners and professionals from the Broadway musicals and ballet. In addition to his teaching, Howard was an expert on the history of the pointe shoe worn by ballet dancers, and a pioneer in their design.
