David Gurfein
David Gurfein is an American military veteran. He retired as a U.S. Marine Corps lieutenant colonel. Gurfein is currently the CEO of the American nonprofit organization United American Patriots (UAP). Early life Gurfein attended Great Neck South High School in Long Island, New York. He was the school's quarterback from 1980–1982. He proposed and led a successful campaign to change the school's mascot from a Confederate rebel to an American Revolutionary War rebel during the 1981–82 school year after the lynching of Michael Donald in Mobile, Alabama. Military career Gurfein joined the U.S. Marines at the age of 17. Through the Marines' Delayed Entry Program, he attended Syracuse University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science. After fighting in the Gulf War, he left active-duty in the military to get an MBA from Harvard University but he remained in the reserves. Delayed Entry Program
The Delayed Entry Program (DEP, also called the Delayed Enlistment Program or Future Soldiers Program in the United States), is a program designed to accommodate new enlistees into the United States Armed Forces before they ship out to basic training. Enlistees first enter the DEP as inactive reservists, then make a commitment to report for training on a specified date. However, they do not become active-duty servicemembers until they formally enlist as such on that date. Enlistees may use the period between signing up and shipping out to complete tasks such as graduating from high school or college, preparing physically and mentally for military life, and putting their personal affairs in order. DEP members who change their mind and decide not to enter the military before they begin active duty will be separated with no adverse consequences. Chris Hondros
Chris Hondros (March 14, 1970 – April 20, 2011) was an American war photographer. Hondros was a finalist twice for a Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography. Biography Chris Hondros was born in New York City to immigrant Greek and German parents who were child refugees after World War II. He spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1988. Hondros studied English literature at North Carolina State University where he also worked for the ''Technician'', the campus newspaper. Safwan (, Kurds, Kurdish: سەفووان , sêfûan) is a town in southeast Iraq on the Iraq–Kuwait border, border with Kuwait. It was the site of the Safwan Air Base.
