David Govrin
David Govrin (born 23 August 1963) is an Israeli diplomat and the first Israeli Ambassador in Morocco. Career Govrin has served as an Israeli diplomat since 1989. He served as the First Secretary at the Israeli Embassy in Egypt (1994–1997) and as a Political Counselor in the Permanent Mission of Israel to the UN. In addition, he has served in a variety of positions in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including that of Head of the Jordanian Department and Head of department in the Ministry's Planning Bureau. He speaks fluent Arabic, and served as Israel's ambassador to Egypt from 2016 to 2020. In January 2021, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs nominated Govrin as Israel's permanent ambassador to Morocco after the two countries agreed to normalize ties in a US-brokered agreement in December 2020. Yosef Govrin
Yosef Govrin (18 December 1930 – 4 June 2021) was an Israeli diplomat who served in Israel's Foreign Service between 1953 and 1995. Biography Early life Born, 18 Dec. 1930, Chernivtsi, Czernowitz, North Bukovina, Bucovina (then Romania, now Ukraine) to his late parents Zadcanit (Fradia, nee Lerner) and David Gurvitz. Childhood in Edinitz, Bessarabia (then Romania, now Moldova). Both regions were annexed to the Soviet Union, June 1940. Shortly after the German-Romanian invasion of these areas, in July 1941, tens of thousands of Jews were brutally murdered. The survivors were brutally deported, August–October 1941, by the Romanian Fascist authorities to the ghettoes and death camps of Transnistria, (an area between the rivers Dniester and Bug, governed by Romania 1941-1944). Israel–Morocco Normalization Agreement
The Israel–Morocco normalization agreement is an agreement announced by the United States government on December 10, 2020, in which Israel and Morocco agreed to begin normalizing relations. On December 22, 2020, a joint declaration was signed pledging to quickly begin direct flights, promote economic cooperation, reopen liaison offices and move toward "full diplomatic, peaceful and friendly relations." Morocco officially recognized Israel in its communication to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
