David Fotouhi
David Fotouhi is an American lawyer, activist, and government official serving as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) since June 2025. Career Fotouhi was nominated by Donald Trump to be Deputy Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; the nomination was criticized for his perceived lack of experience. He was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on June 10, 2025, in a 53–41 party-line vote. He was sworn in on June 16, 2025. Prior to his nomination, Fotouhi was a partner in environmental litigation at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States government tasked with environmental protection matters. President Richard Nixon proposed the establishment of EPA on July 9, 1970; it began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order.
