Dovid Feinstein
Dovid Feinstein (; 1929 – November 6, 2020) was an American rabbi and ''halachic'' authority. He served as the rosh yeshiva (dean) of the Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem yeshiva elementary and high school and kollel, inheriting the position after the passing of his father Rabbi Moshe Feinstein in 1986. He also wrote a number of books on such topics as ''halacha'', Torah and the Jewish calendar, as well as some very popular Passover Haggadahs. His brother, Rabbi Reuven Feinstein, is rosh yeshiva of the Staten Island branch of Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem. Biography Dovid Feinstein was born in 1929 in Lyuban (in present-day Belarus), where his father Moshe Feinstein served as a rabbi of the community. He was named after his paternal grandfather, who was descended from the brother of the Vilna Gaon. When he was eight, his family moved to Manhattan, where he would reside until his death. Elf (band)
Elf was an American rock band founded in 1967 by singer and bassist Ronnie James Dio, keyboardist Doug Thaler, drummer Gary Driscoll, and guitarists Nick Pantas and David Feinstein (Dio's cousin). The band was originally called the Electric Elves, but was shortened to the Elves in 1968 and finally Elf in 1972. Elf disbanded in 1975 after recording three albums and after most of the lineup had been absorbed into the newly formed Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow. History The band was formed in 1967 when the members of Ronnie Dio and the Prophets transformed themselves into the Electric Elves and added a keyboard player, Doug Thaler. In February 1968, the band was involved in an automobile accident which claimed the life of Nick Pantas. The Rods
The Rods are an American heavy metal band formed in 1980 by David "Rock" Feinstein (guitar, vocals) orn in 1947 Steven Starmer (bass, vocals), and Carl Canedy (drums, vocals). After the first album Starmer was replaced by Garry Bordonaro. Feinstein had first come to mainstream attention after playing in Elf with his cousin Ronnie James Dio. The Rods' sound differed considerably from Elf, adopting a more traditional heavy metal sound compared with the boogie-rock sound that Elf preferred. Their first album was originally released independently as ''Rock Hard'' in 1980 and the following year the band was signed by Arista Records, who reordered the album tracks and released it simply titled ''The Rods''. Their second album ''Wild Dogs'' followed in 1982 and was re-released in 2004. The Rods' third album, released 1983, was entitled ''In the Raw''.
