David Chan (politician)
David Chan is a Canadian politician who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 2024 general election, representing Yorkton as a member of the Saskatchewan Party. Following an announcement on May 29, 2023 that Greg Ottenbreit would not seek re-election, Chan won a contested nomination to become the Saskatchewan Party's candidate in Yorkton, over two other contenders on March 7, 2024. Prior to his political career, Chan worked as a mental health councillor for several area Indigenous communities. The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan () is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King of Canada. Yorkton (provincial Electoral District)
Yorkton is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Canada. It has historically almost always voted for the governing party, selecting an opposition candidate only twice in its history (1938 & 1960). It was created when Saskatchewan became a province, replacing the territorial electoral district by the same name, which was established in 1894. The current boundaries of the constituency were set by the ''Representation Act, 2012'' (Saskatchewan). Founded as "York City" in 1882, Yorkton (pop. 15,038) became a city on February 1, 1928. Greg Ottenbreit
Greg Ottenbreit (born November 18, 1963) is a Canadian former politician. He was first elected to represent the electoral district of Yorkton in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in the 2007 election, and remained in office until retiring in 2024. He is a member of the Saskatchewan Party. He was a cabinet minister under premiers Brad Wall and Scott Moe between 2014 and 2020. Political career Ottenbreit was first elected MLA for Yorkton in the 2007 election, when the Saskatchewan Party won government under the leadership of Brad Wall. Before Ottenbreit's win, the Yorkton seat had been held by the New Democratic Party since 1991. Ottenbreit was re-elected in Yorkton three times in 2011, 2016, and 2020. The Saskatchewan Party (SP or Sask Party) is a conservative political party in the Provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Saskatchewan. Yorkton
Yorkton is a city located in south-eastern Saskatchewan, Canada. It is about north-west of Winnipeg and south-east of Saskatoon and is the sixth largest city in the province. Yorkton was founded in 1882 and incorporated as a city in 1928. The 2024 Saskatchewan general election was held on October 28, 2024, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan. The incumbent Saskatchewan Party government, led by Premier Scott Moe since 2018, sought re-election to a fifth consecutive term. The Saskatchewan Party's primary opponent, the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) led by Carla Beck, sought to lead the NDP to its first government since 2007. This was the first general election to feature the Saskatchewan United Party (SUP). Royal Roads University (also referred to as RRU or Royal Roads) is a public university with its main campus in Colwood, British Columbia, Canada.
