David Braithwaite
David Joseph Braithwaite (16 April 1937 – 18 March 2021) was a New Zealand politician. He was mayor of Hamilton, New Zealand, mayor of Hamilton from 2001 to 2004. Braithwaite was born in Hamilton on 16 April 1937. Both of his parents were prominent in civic life in Hamilton. His father, Roderick Braithwaite, served as mayor of Hamilton, between 1953 and 1959; and his mother, Kathleen Braithwaite (née Arey), was a city councillor from 1962 to 1974, including a period as deputy mayor. In the 1992 Birthday Honours (New Zealand), 1992 Queen's Birthday Honours, Braithwaite was appointed an Order of the British Empire, Officer of the Order of the British Empire, for services to the Trust Bank (New Zealand), Trustbank organisation and the community. Hamilton ( mi, Kirikiriroa) is an inland city in the North Island of New Zealand. Located on the banks of the Waikato River, it is the seat and most populous city of the Waikato, Waikato region. With a territorial population of , it is the country's List of cities in New Zealand, fourth most-populous city. Rodric Braithwaite
Sir Rodric Quentin Braithwaite, (born 17 May 1932) is a retired British diplomat and an author. Public life Braithwaite was educated at Bedales School and Christ's College, Cambridge. After his military service, he joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1955. His diplomatic career included posts in Indonesia, Italy, Poland, the Soviet Union, and a number of positions at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. From 1988 to 1992 Braithwaite was ambassador in Moscow, first of all under Margaret Thatcher to the Soviet Union and then under John Major to the Russian Federation. He is the son of the conductor Warwick Braithwaite. Biography Braithwaite studied at the Royal Academy of Music, at the Festival masterclasses in Bayreuth, and with Hans Swarowsky in Vienna. In the 1960s, Braithwaite was associate conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. He served as resident conductor at Sadler's Wells Opera for three seasons, from 1971 to 1974, where he conducted Richard Wagner's Ring cycle. In 1976, he was named music director of Glyndebourne Touring Opera., and served in that post until 1980. Warwick Braithwaite
Henry Warwick Braithwaite (9 January 1896 – 19 January 1971) was a New Zealand-born orchestral conductor. He worked mostly in Great Britain and was especially known for his work in opera. Early life and family Braithwaite was one of the youngest of a large number of children (at least 16 and as many as 22 children, but the records are inadequate) born to Joseph Braithwaite and Mary Ann Braithwaite (née Bellett) in Dunedin. His father was later mayor of Dunedin between 1905 and 1906. The family were musical – the Braithwaite family would perform Gilbert and Sullivan to friends and relatives in their 20-room house in Dunedin, and his elder sister Mabel Manson emigrated to England before he was born, where she made a considerable career as a singer.
