David Mckee Barnes (born June 20, 1978) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. He has released eight studio albums, including two Christmas albums. His most recent full-length album, ''Featherbrained Wealth Motel'', was released in 2023. Early life The eldest of three children, Barnes was born in South Carolina in 1978, the son of a pastor who relocated his family to Kosciusko, Mississippi when Barnes was six years old. The Barnes family then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee the summer during his junior year of high school, where he graduated from Farragut High School in 1996. Barnes went to college at Middle Tennessee State University and graduated with a degree in Recording Industry Management. While there, he began playing guitar and writing songs for fun. David Barnes (born 22 February 1986) is an athlete from Adelaide, Australia. He competes in archery. He was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Barnes competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He was defeated in the first round of elimination, placing 36th overall. Barnes was also a member of the 6th-place Australian men's archery team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Barnes was part of Australia's men's archery team that qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. His team-mates were Ryan Tyack and Taylor Worth. They competed together in the team event as well against one another in the individual event. David Barnes (born David Smith, 16 January 1981) is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2015. He held the British welterweight title from 2003 to 2004 and the British super lightweight title in 2008. Career Barnes made his professional debut in July 2001 when at the Manchester Velodrome he stopped Trevor Smith in the second round of their four-round match. After compiling an undefeated ledger of 12-0 he was just two years later in July 2003 given the opportunity to fight for the vacant British Welterweight title against the experienced Jimmy Vincent. David Barnes (born 16 November 1961) is an English former footballer who played as a left-back in the Football League for Coventry City, Ipswich Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aldershot, Sheffield United, Watford and Colchester United. David Barnes (1895–4 June 1970) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Biography Early life and career Barnes was born in 1895 and educated in England before migrating to New Zealand in 1908 with his parents. After arriving he became a farmer in the North Canterbury area until 1914 when he signed up for the Canterbury Mounted Rifles Regiment in World War I. After being wounded at Gallipoli he returned to New Zealand where he became the first returned serviceman to join the pilot school at Sockburn by the Canterbury Aviation Company before returning to England to completed his pilot training. Subsequently, he served with English coastal defence forces until the end of the war. He returned to New Zealand to resume farming in North Canterbury, and later at Fairlie. David Michael Barnes (born 12 July 1976 in Leicester) was a rugby union prop for Bath Rugby in the Guinness Premiership retiring in 2011. He was appointed head of Discipline at the Rugby Football Union in July 2017. Barnes was educated at Nevill Holt, Sedbergh School and Durham University. Whilst at Durham, he competed for Kendal RUFC. His performances then led to him playing for West Hartlepool R.F.C., during the 1996–97 season, when they were in the top tier. He subsequently played for the Newcastle Falcons when they won the 1997–98 Premiership. It was during 1997 that Barnes was first involved with England A. Barnes then joined Harlequin F.C., where he understudied Jason Leonard and played 45 games during his two seasons at the club, before moving to Bath Rugby in 2000. David John Barnes (27 April 1958 – 23 October 2020) was a New Zealand America's Cup sailor, and three-time 470 world champion. Early years Born in Wellington, Barnes was educated at Tawa College. He married Karen in 1986, and the couple had three children. Sailing career Barnes skippered the KZ1 yacht which lost to the United States in the 1988 America's Cup race. Later years Barnes was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. In 2013 he became involved with ''Kiwi Gold Sailing'', a group of paralympians attempting to qualify a Sonar for the 2016 Paralympics. The team included fellow America's Cup veteran Rick Dodson. However, Barnes' condition worsened and he withdrew from the team in 2014. Barnes died on 23 October 2020, aged 62.
