David Arblaster
David Amos Arblaster (16 November 192910 August 2006) was a New South Wales politician, Minister for Culture, Sport and Recreation and Minister for Tourism in the cabinet of Sir Eric Willis until the Liberal party lost the 1976 election. Arblaster was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the Electoral district of Mosman in 1972 and served until his retirement in 1984. Early life Arblaster was born in Sydney in 1929, the only child of Hugh and Ivy Arblaster, and was educated at Manly Village Public School and then later at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Upon graduating, he studied accountancy but had a varied career, becoming a salesman for Larke Hoskins Ltd in Sydney, and then a grazier in outback New South Wales and Cunnamulla in South West Queensland. Keith Doyle (politician)
Keith Ralph Doyle (10 December 1924 – 12 October 2017) was an Australian politician. He was a Liberal Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1965 to 1978, representing the electorate of Vaucluse. Doyle was born in Sydney, and was educated at Sydney Church of England Grammar School and the University of Sydney. He served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II as a flying officer and navigator. An insurance broker by trade, he was managing director of Banks Brothers and Metcalf Insurance Brokers and the Cooma Development Company, and operated commercial laundries at Cooma, Bega and Ulladulla. He was also involved in charitable causes, serving as a director of the New South Wales Society for Crippled Children from 1952 to 1958. Neil Edward William Pickard (13 February 192913 April 2007) was a New South Wales politician and Minister of the Crown in the cabinets of Sir Eric Willis and Nick Greiner. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 26 years from 17 November 1973 to 3 May 1991 for the Liberal Party until his retirement from politics upon the abolition of his seat at the election. He was appointed NSW Agent-General in London, but was recalled soon after due to expenses abuse. Early life Pickard was born in Strathfield in Sydney, the son of Edward Pickard and Mary MacGilvray. 1975 Australian Federal Election
The 1975 Australian federal election was held in Australia on 13 December 1975. All 127 seats in the House of Representatives and all 64 seats in the Senate were up for election, due to a double dissolution. Malcolm Fraser had been commissioned as caretaker prime minister following the dismissal of Gough Whitlam's three-year-old Labor government by Governor-General Sir John Kerr, on 11 November 1975. A by-election was held for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly seat of Mosman on Saturday, 29 July 1972. It was triggered by the retirement of the former Leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party and Minister of the Crown, Pat Morton. The seat was subsequently won by David Arblaster (). Elections were held on 25 November 1967 to elect half of the 60 seats in the Australian Senate. There was no accompanying election to the House of Representatives as the two election cycles had been out of synchronisation since 1963. The results were a setback for the government of Harold Holt. John Howard
