David Andrews (director)
David Andrews (born 22 October 1935) is a British television character actor, director and writer. From 1959, he has worked almost continuously in television for more than 50 years, 40 of which were spent directing television drama and other genres. Early life Born in England of Scottish and Irish descent, Andrews spent his early childhood in Scotland. He was educated at Kings College, Taunton and the Whitgift Middle School, Croydon (now the Trinity School of John Whitgift). In 1958, after National Service in the RAF, he graduated from the Central (now the Royal Central) School of Speech and Drama, winning the gold medal and Rawlings Cup. ''Some People'' is a 1962 film directed by Clive Donner, starring Kenneth More and Ray Brooks. It was written by John Eldridge. It is centred on the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. Plot Mr Smith is an aircraft engineer, who also acts as a voluntary choirmaster and youth worker. He tries to help a group of teenagers in Bristol, by encouraging positive social development after they lose their motorcycle licences. They are all in dead-end jobs with no home life and on the fringes of petty crime, but are musically talented. ''Grange Hill'' is a British Children's television series, children's television drama series, originally produced by the BBC and portraying life in a typical Comprehensive school (England and Wales), comprehensive school. ''River City'' is a Scottish television soap opera created by Stephen Greenhorn which has been broadcast on BBC One Scotland since September 2002. Since 2019, the show has aired episodes a day earlier on the new BBC Scotland channel. ''Hollyoaks'' is a British soap opera which originally began airing on Channel 4 on 23 October 1995. It was created by Phil Redmond, who had previously conceived the soap opera ''Brookside (TV series), Brookside''. From 2005 to 2023, episodes have aired on sister channel E4 (TV channel), E4 a day prior to their broadcast on Channel 4.
