Dave Van Horne
David Van Horne (born August 25, 1939) is a retired Major League Baseball announcer. Van Horne had been the lead play-by-play announcer for the Miami Marlins Radio Network since 2001; prior to that, he spent 32 years of his broadcasting career with the Montreal Expos, 14 of those years partnered with Duke Snider. Early career Van Horne attended and graduated from Wilson Area High School in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1957. Van Horne entered the drama department at the Richmond Professional Institute in Richmond, Virginia. While at the school he began hosting a Top 40 program at a local radio station, which led to his dropping out of school and starting a full-time broadcasting career in Roanoke, where he began calling high school football and basketball. This led in turn to Van Horne calling baseball for the Richmond Braves, the Class AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, beginning in 1966. Dennis Martínez
José Dennis Martínez Ortiz (born May 14, 1955), nicknamed "El Presidente" (The President), is a Nicaraguan professional baseball pitcher. Martínez played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles, Montreal Expos, Cleveland Indians, Seattle Mariners, and Atlanta Braves from 1976 to 1998. He threw a perfect game in 1991, and was a four-time MLB All-Star. He was the first Nicaraguan to play in the majors. Early life Martínez was born in Granada, Nicaragua, the last of seven children to Edmundo and Emilia Martínez. The family was poor, but he helped his parents on the farm that raised food for the family. He was scouted by Ray Poitevint of the Baltimore Orioles on December 10, 1973 for $3,000. Murray Cook (baseball)
George Earl Murray Cook (born December 6, 1940) is a Canadian scout and former front office executive in Major League Baseball. He was the general manager of three MLB teams: the New York Yankees (1981–84); the Montreal Expos (1984–87); and the Cincinnati Reds (1988–1990). Pirates and Yankees Cook began his baseball career as an infielder in the Pittsburgh Pirates farm system in 1962. He then became a scout and farm system administrator, serving Pittsburgh as assistant director of Minor League operations (1972–77), then director of scouting (1977–79). He was named the Yankees' scouting director in January 1980. Yankees Cook was promoted to general manager of the New York Yankees on June 30, 1981 after Bill Bergesch was hired by Bob Howsam to be GM of the Cincinnati Reds.
