Dave Perry
Dave Perry (born 21 May 1966) was co-commentator on the UK computer and video games television shows ''GamesMaster'' and ''Games World''. Perry was most famous for walking off ''Gamesmaster''. He was responsible for launching many games magazines, including ''Games World'', ''Play'', ''PowerStation'', ''X-Gen'', ''STATION'' and '' Mega Power''. He has since opened a tattoo parlour named Revolver Tattoo Rooms. GamesMaster
''GamesMaster'' is a British television programme which originally aired on Channel 4 from 1992 to 1998. In 2021, it returned for a new series on YouTube and E4. It was the first UK television programme dedicated to video games. Dominik Diamond was the host for six of the original seven series while astronomer Sir Patrick Moore featured as the GamesMaster. He was replaced in 2021 with Sir Trevor McDonald. The show's format consists of a mixture of game reviews, small "features", tips and challenges. Challenges form the biggest section of the show and generally consist of "average" players and celebrities, often competing against each other for the coveted Golden Joystick. The show was a hit from its initial series with high ratings and an audience made up mostly of adolescent boys, tuning in to hear Diamond's double entendres and sexual innuendos. Games World
''Games World'' was a British entertainment programme that aired on Sky One originally from 1 March 1993 to 10 March 1995 with Bob Mills as host, and then revived from 9 March 1998 to 1999 with Andy Collins as host. Format The main body of the show took place on Mondays and Wednesdays, and was an elimination contest between several youngsters over several different video games, where winners would go on to Friday's edition. Every Friday, a single winner from the previous day staked points on various matches at differing games, and would go up against various cartoonish characters known as "Videators". Winners received a ''Games World'' bomber jacket, whilst the overall series winner would receive an arcade machine. Mega Power
''Mega Power'' was launched following the success of Paragon Publishing's first publication, ''Sega Pro''. Dave Perry along with a small editorial team helped the magazine become the first console publication to include a cover CD. The magazine was in circulation between August 1993 and July 1995. Cover mounted CDs Issue 4, November 1993, included the first ever cover mounted demo playable on a Sega console, that being Thunderhawk. Game demo insert covers were provided, through the magazine, to use with the CD and an empty case. Various other game demo CDs were released through 1993 and 1994 and they became a regular feature after May 1994. Jolt Online Gaming was an online gaming company hosted in Ireland. Its main site provided news, reviews, and interviews concerning upcoming games on consoles and computers, while its gaming network Jolt Online Gaming Network hosted and published free-to-play browser-based games. UK Resistance (also written as UK:Resistance, or simply UK:R) was a video games website founded in 1996 by Gary Cutlack and Jon M (under the pseudonyms Commander Zorg and Captain Jax). Originally a Sega news and reviews fansite, UK Resistance expanded its coverage across all formats, and developed a style depending more on satirical updates rather than its original UK news and reviews content.
