Lodi, Wisconsin
Lodi ( ) is a city in Columbia County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,189 at the 2020 census. Lodi is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Isaac Palmer founded the village of Lodi in 1846 in what was then the Pleasant Valley Precinct of the Wisconsin Territory. He named it after Lodi, in Italy. Palmer chose this glaciated valley as the location for the village because of its water power potential. Spring Creek powered a sawmill that year and a grist mill followed in 1850. Madison Curling Club
The Madison Curling Club (MCC) is a curling club located in McFarland, Wisconsin, United States. MCC was the third-largest curling club in the United States with 570 members as of February 2014. The club had 590 members for the 2019-2020 season. History Planning for the club started in 1919 and then the Madison Curling Club was formally established in 1921. For the club's first eight years games were played under the bleachers at Camp Randall Stadium. In 1930 the club moved to Burr Jones Field in Madison. In 1997 the club moved into their current facility in William McFarland Park in McFarland. The MCC has had at least one member curl for Team USA in every Winter Olympics since curling was instated as a full Olympic sport in 1998. Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Paul Pustovar (born December 17, 1951 in Chisholm, Minnesota) is an American curler from Hibbing, Minnesota. He is one of the most prolific curlers from the United States, with over thirty years of experience. He has earned two bronze medals at the World Curling Championships and has earned five gold medals, four silver medals, and one bronze medal in the twenty-five national championships that he has participated in. He is also a former world senior champion. Early life Pustovar studied at the University of Minnesota Duluth and earned his bachelor's degree in education. Sean Silver (born March 29, 1990) is a Namibian cricketer. Silver made his cricketing debut for Namibia Under-19s in 2007, when he played against Kenya in the Africa Under-19 Championship. His debut saw him open with former Namibian Under-15s and Under-17s captain Raymond van Schoor, though he was bowled out by young Kenyan bowler Elijah Otieno.
