Dave Farrish
David Allan Farrish (born August 1, 1956) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 430 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the New York Rangers, Quebec Nordiques, and Toronto Maple Leafs. While playing in the American Hockey League, Farrish won the Eddie Shore Award as the league's best defenceman during the 1981–82 AHL season. Farrish has served as head coach for the Moncton Hawks, Salt Lake Golden Eagles, Fort Wayne Komets, Springfield Falcons, Louisiana IceGators and the Pensacola Ice Pilots. At the NHL level, Farrish served as an assistant coach to Randy Carlyle with the Anaheim Ducks from 2005 to the middle of the 2011-12 season. On March 3, 2012, Farrish was appointed an assistant coach, again under Carlyle, with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Farrish was let go by the Maple Leafs in May 2014. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone). They were once called cover-point. In regular play, two defencemen complement three forwards and a goaltender on the ice. Exceptions include overtime during the regular season and when a team is shorthanded (i.e. has been assessed a penalty), in which two defencemen are typically joined by only two forwards and a goaltender. Pensacola Ice Pilots
The Pensacola Ice Pilots were a professional ice hockey team located in Pensacola, Florida. The team was previously affiliated with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Islanders (2006–07), and the Chicago Blackhawks. They have also had a working agreement with the Houston Aeros of the AHL for the 04–05 season. On June 23, 2008, the ECHL announced that it had terminated the Ice Pilots' membership, effective immediately. The team's colors (navy blue and gold) and nickname were a tribute to the long history of Naval aviation in Pensacola (Naval Air Station Pensacola is home to the legendary Blue Angels and the National Museum of Naval Aviation). The 2007 Stanley Cup Finals was the championship series of the National Hockey League's (NHL) 2006–07 season, and the culmination of the 2007 Stanley Cup playoffs. It was contested between the Western Conference champion Anaheim Ducks and the Eastern Conference champion Ottawa Senators.
