Daule Canton
Daule, is a canton located in the Guayas province in Ecuador. Created in 1820, it is one of the most important parts of Guayas thanks to its rice production and other products such as corn and eggs. The Daule canton covers an area of and at the 2001 census it had a population of 85,148 people. The seat or capital of the canton is the city of Daule. Guayas Province
Guayas () is a coastal province in Ecuador. It is bordered to the west by Manabí, Santa Elena, and the Pacific Ocean (as the Gulf of Guayaquil); to the east by Los Ríos, Bolívar, Chimborazo, Cañar, and Azuay; to the north by Los Ríos and Bolívar; and to the south by El Oro and the Pacific Ocean. Daule, Guayas, Ecuador is a city located in central Guayas, Ecuador, on the Daule River. It is the seat of Daule Canton, created November 26 of 1820. It is called the "rice capital of Ecuador" for its important rice production. In the 2010 census it had a population of 65,145 inhabitants which makes it the nineteenth most populous city in the country. It is part of the metropolitan area of Guayaquil, because its economic, social and commercial activity is strongly linked to Guayaquil, being a dormitory city for thousands of people who move to Guayaquil by land daily. A canton is a type of administrative division of a country. In general, cantons are relatively small in terms of area and population when compared with other administrative divisions such as counties, departments, or provinces. Mestizo
(; ; fem. ) is a term used for racial classification to refer to a person of mixed European and Indigenous American ancestry. In certain regions such as Latin America, it may also refer to people who are culturally European even though their ancestors are not. The term was used as an ethnic/racial category for mixed-race that evolved during the Spanish Empire. Although, broadly speaking, means someone of mixed European/Indigenous heritage, the term did not have a fixed meaning in the colonial period.
