He began his career painting large narrative scenes, then specialized in portraits, but later in his career seems to have specialized in highly ornate borders to miniatures. Life and career His father, L'al, served in the imperial court, very likely as one of the many artists in the imperial workshop. Daulat trained there and was active as a painter by the mid-1590s, remaining for the whole of his career. His brother Daud (Da'ud) was also an artist, who is usually referred to in inscriptions and art history as "Daud, brother of Daulat". Like Govardhan (Mughal painter), Govardhan, the other main portrait specialist of the period, and ultimately a finer artist than Daulat, he was influenced by Basawan. Important manuscript projects he contributed to in the 1590s include the British Libr ...

Daulat Khan Lodi ( Persian: دولت خان لودی) was the governor of Lahore during the reign of Sikandar Khan and Ibrahim Lodi, the last rulers of the Lodi dynasty. Due to disaffection with Ibrahim, Daulat invited Babur to invade the empire. He was initially governor of the Jalandhar Doab before being promoted to the governorship of Lahore between 1500 and 1504, and remained so until Babur's invasion in 1524. Daulat Khan was one of Ibrahim's chief opponents, along with the ruler's own uncle, Alam Khan (also known as Ala-ud-din), who at that time was living under the protecti ...

As per an answer given by Mill in a Parliamentary Committee in Britain on February 16, 1832, on the status of Scindia's kingdom it was mentioned that “he was independent.” This Committee finally reported to Parliament that “within the Peninsula, Sindhia is the only prince who preserves the semblance of independence.” Mahadji Scindia l ...
