Dasma () is one of the areas of the Capital Governorate in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Areas Of Kuwait
Kuwait is divided into Governorates of Kuwait, six governorates, and in each there are several areas (). They are much less commonly called by other names such as districts or towns. However, they are commonly known inside the English-speaking community in Kuwait and are officially translated to as ''areas''. The Arabic word for area, Mintaqah, means both ''area'' and ''region''. Areas are further sub-divided into blocks, each of which is referred by a number. All blocks are divided into streets () . Then some areas may be further sub-divided into () , which is translated to avenue or lane. Each area in Kuwait has an official governmental facility called a co-op society or just society (). They are mainly supermarkets that provide foods and products and they take part in maintaining some of the areas landmarks, but they're not legally obliged to. Bnaid Al-Gar ( ) is an area in the Capital Governorate of Kuwait and an immediate suburb of Kuwait City. It has a total area of approximately 1,320,220 square metres. The area is served by many main roads in Kuwait, including Gulf Road, Independence Road (Route 30), and Kuwait's 2nd Ring Road with easy access to the 1st Ring Road. History and Etymology As one of the oldest settlements in Kuwait, the reason behind the name is disputed. According to one theory, بنيد ''bnēd'' is a clipping of the word بنيدر ''bnēdar'', a diminutive of the Arabic-Persian بندر ''bandar'' meaning ''harbour'' or ''port'' that can be found is some place names on the Gulf coasts.
