Dasht Tehsil
Dasht Tehsil () is a tehsil of Kech District in Makran, Balochistan, Pakistan. Geography Dasht Tehsil is located in the south of Kech District. It is bordered by Gwadar District in the south, by Tump Tehsil in the northwest and Turbat Tehsil in the northeast. Subdivisions The tehsil is subdivided into six union councils: Balnegore, Darachko, Kombail, Koncheti, Khuddan and Zarain Bug. The headquarters of the tehsil is Khuddan. Other populated places in the tehsil include Shooli, which is close to Gwadar District. Demographics Population According to 2023 census, Tehsils had a population of 90,080 living in 21,083 households. All population lives in rural areas. As of the 2017 census, the tehsil's population is 76,470 inhabitants. Literacy The overall literacy rate stands at 37.25%. This is a list of tehsils of Pakistan, the fourth level of government overall and the middle tier in the local government system. In some areas, the alternative word "taluka" is used but this is merely a historical formality. The list is organised by provinces and territories of Pakistan. Jan Dashti
Jan Mohammad Dashti (born October 1951) is a Baloch poet, bureaucrat author and anti Islam activist, from Balochistan. Often known as just Jan Dashti, he is a senior bureaucrat serving as Balochistan's Provincial Secretary Mines and Minerals. Birth and education Dashti was born in Kunchiti, in Balochistan. He took a two-year post-graduation course in Journalism at the University of Karachi, from where he passed out in 1972. He also successfully completed the highly acclaimed CSS exam. Journalism Dashti's journalistic career began in 1974, when he joined Pakistan's Press and Information Department (PID). Between 1978 and 1979, he wrote for the ''Weekly Viewpoint'' under the pen-name of Sahak Baloch, mostly contributing Balouchistan-related articles. He has also greatly contributed to the Balouchi language under the pen-name of "Shay Ragam". Baloch People
The Baloch ( ) or Baluch ( ; , plural ) are a nomadic, Pastoralism, pastoral, ethnic group which speaks the Western Iranian, Western Iranic Balochi language and is native to the Balochistan region of South Asia, South and Western Asia, encompassing the countries of Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan. 2023 Pakistani Census
The 2023 Census of Pakistan was the detailed enumeration of the Pakistani population and the seventh national census in the country. It was conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. It was also the first ever digital census to be held in Pakistan, including the first in South Asian history. The census was initially held from 1 March 2023 to 1 April 2023. However, enumeration was later extended several times until 30 May 2023, because of incomplete enumeration in large cities such as Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, where people are more mobile and therefore harder to count, and in remote and rural Balochistan. The extension was also used by PBS officials and census takers for quality reviews, to check if all households and people were properly counted in each area.
