Darłowo Lighthouse
Darłowo Lighthouse () – a lighthouse on the Polish coast of the Baltic Sea in Darłowo, West Pomeranian Voivodeship; in Poland. The lighthouse is located between Gąski (about 40 km to the west) and the Jarosławiec (about 15 km to the east). History The first mention of Darłowo Lighthouse is from 1715 when the city council ordered lights to be installed on both sides of the mouth of the river Wieprz. These light installations remained for many years, until 1885 when brick harbour port station was built at the base of the eastern breakwater – to which the tower was square tower. The lighthouse was topped with a red light which had a range of about 6 nautical miles. The lighthouse was expanded and renovated in 1927, when an extra floor was added to the lighthouse – made out of a metal frame – used as the main lantern room housing an optic with a prism assembled on the thirteenth level of the lighthouse. Darłowo
Darłowo (; ; ) is a seaside town on the Slovincian Coast of north-western Poland, south of the Baltic Sea, with 13,324 inhabitants as of December 2021. Administratively, it is located in Sławno County in West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The earliest archaeological signs of a settlement in the area occurred when Roman Empire, Roman merchants travelled along the Amber Road in the hope of trading precious metals like bronze and silver for amber. By the 11th century the location of the later town was already becoming a significant trading point. The settlement received its town rights in 1312. Over the years Dukes of Pomerania constructed a Castle of the Pomeranian Dukes in Darłowo, Ducal Castle called Dirlow on a nearby island and chose it as their seat. It was here that the largest artillery piece in the world, Schwerer Gustav, was constructed and tested by Nazi Germany during World War II. Halogen Light
The halogens () are a group in the periodic table consisting of six chemically related elements: fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), bromine (Br), iodine (I), and the radioactive elements astatine (At) and tennessine (Ts), though some authors would exclude tennessine as its chemistry is unknown and is theoretically expected to be more like that of gallium. In the modern IUPAC nomenclature, this group is known as group 17. The word "halogen" means "salt former" or "salt maker". When halogens react with metals, they produce a wide range of salts, including calcium fluoride, sodium chloride (common table salt), silver bromide and potassium iodide.
