Darryl Williams (advocate)
Darryl K. Williams (January 28, 1964 - March 28, 2010) of Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts and Milton, Massachusetts was an advocate for social justice, compassion and forgiveness as well as a local advocate for accessibility for persons with disabilities. As a 15-year-old African-American living in Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts, Williams became the victim of a school shooting on September 28, 1979, in Charlestown, Boston, Massachusetts while playing at a high school football game. Williams survived the shooting but was paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life. Protests, rallies and school walkouts ensued in response, and racial tensions in the city of Boston escalated in the aftermath. Despite the misfortunes, Williams earned a high school diploma and a college degree. He spoke to many thousands of Boston area high school students and others about gun violence and social justice in sports. Darryl Williams Jr. (born June 10, 1997) is an American professional football center who is a free agent. He played college football at Mississippi State and was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in . He has also spent time with the New England Patriots. Early life and education Williams was born on June 10, 1997, in Bessemer, Alabama. He attended Bessemer City High School there and played football as a lineman. He was a four-star prospect and was ranked as the tenth-best player in the state by ESPN. He also placed 13th on the 247Sports list of top prospects, 14th on the list made by Scout.com, and 21st on the list made by Rivals.com. Darryl C. Williams (born February 29, 1968) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional player. He is the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers who played extensively in the minor leagues and played two games for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League during the 1992–93 season. Darryl Edwin Williams (born January 8, 1970) is an American former professional football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons during the 1990s and early 2000s. He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes, was recognized as an All-American, and was a member of two national championship teams. Darrel Williams (born April 15, 1995) is an American football running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at LSU. He was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2018. High school career Williams was a four-star recruit coming out of John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana; he amassed 2,036 yards and had 27 touchdowns in his senior year.
