Darren William Burnett (born 27 May 1976 in Arbroath) is a Scottish lawn bowler and indoor bowler. Bowls career Commonwealth Games At the 2014 Commonwealth Games, he won a gold medal in men's singles after defeating Canada's Ryan Bester. In 2018 he was selected as part of the Scottish team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where he claimed another gold medal in the Triples with Ronnie Duncan and Derek Oliver. In 2022, he competed in the men's triples and the men's fours at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. World Championships He has won four medals at the World Bowls Championship. The first came during the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch when he won a silver medal and then four years later won a gold and bronze during the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in the pairs and triples. Atlantic Bowls Championships
The Atlantic Bowls Championships was a bowls, lawn bowling competition held between national bowls organisations in the Atlantic region. The event was a qualifying event for the World Bowls Championship, World Outdoor Bowls Championships until the 2021 announcement that it would no longer be held. Originally the Championships were for women only and were called the Atlantic Rim Championships. In 2007 men competed for the first time at the event. The 2001 tournament due to be held in Namibia was cancelled due to opposition from the Namibia Sports Commission. The next tournament was held in 2005. In 2021, the 2020 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was officially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. World Bowls then decided that the World Championships would take place every two years starting in 2023. Derek Oliver (born 23 April 1984) is a Scottish lawn and Indoor bowler. Profile He lives in Cockenzie and plays for the East Lothian Indoor Bowls Club and the Cockenzie & Port Seton Bowls Club. Ronald Duncan (born 22 September 1983) is a Scottish international lawn bowler. Bowls career He won the indoor National Pairs Championship in 2014, partnering Colin Walker. During the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship pairs they were beaten finalists, losing out to fellow Scots Stewart Anderson and Darren Burnett. Duncan won a bronze medal in the fours at the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Christchurch with Alex Marshall, Paul Foster and Iain McLean.
