Darrell Samson
Darrell Samson (born October 13, 1958) is a Canadian politician who served as the member of Parliament (MP) for Sackville—Preston—Chezzetcook from 2015 until 2025. He is a former superintendent of the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Nova Scotia's Acadian and Francophone school board. Early life and education An Acadian, Samson is a native of Petit-de-Grat, Isle Madame, Nova Scotia. He attended the Université de Moncton, graduating in 1982 with a Bachelor of Education and in 1984 with a Masters in Education. Before politics Samson was a teacher/administrator at Caudle Park Elementary for many years before assuming his role at Conseil scolaire acadien provincial. He has been the national president and vice-president of all French school board superintendents outside Quebec, an active member of the National Committee for Early Years as well as a member of the Provincial Advisory Council to the Minister of Education on Early Years in Nova Scotia. Peter Stoffer
Peter Arend Stoffer (born January 6, 1956) is a Canadian politician, who represented the riding of Sackville—Eastern Shore or its redistributed equivalents from the 1997 election until his defeat in the 2015 election. A member of the New Democratic Party, Stoffer served as the Official Opposition Critic for Veterans Affairs after his party became the official opposition after the 2011 election. Stoffer is a grassroots politician who is a strong advocate for Canadian military veterans and their service needs. He has been an advocate of Third Way policies championed by Tony Blair. He was affiliated with the internal party reform group NDProgress that successfully pushed the NDP to adopt a 'one member, one vote' system to choose its leader, and which has called for limits on union influence within the party. The associate minister of national defence () is a member of the Canadian cabinet who is responsible for various files within the defence department as assigned by the prime minister or defence minister. The position was created in 1940 during World War II under the ''War Measures Act'' along with the creation of a minister of defence for air and a minister of defence for naval services. These positions lapsed with the end of the war.
