Dark Twilight
''Dark Twilight'' (re-released in 2001 by Hardscrabble Books under its original title of ''Lake Monsters'') is a 1991 horror novel by author Joseph Citro. It tells the story of a writer-turned-paranormal investigator who has set out to examine the legendary lake monster A lake monster is a lake-dwelling entity in folklore. The most famous example is the Loch Ness Monster. Depictions of lake monsters are often similar to those of sea monsters. In the ''Motif-Index of Folk-Literature'', entities classified as "lak ... of Lake Champlain. This was the first novel Citro wrote, but was not published until his later novels proved to be successful. In the afterword section of the Harscrabble re-release, Citro describes the book as being less refined and cruder than his subsequent works, but sees it as the genesis of his other novels. Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to frighten, scare, or disgust. Horror is often divided into the sub-genres of psychological horror and supernatural horror, which is in the realm of speculative fiction. Literary historian J. A. In American folklore, Champ or Champy is the name of a lake monster said to live in Lake Champlain, a -long body of fresh water shared by New York and Vermont, with a portion extending into Quebec, Canada. The legend of the monster is considered a draw for tourism in the Burlington, Vermont and Plattsburgh, New York areas. History of the legend Over the years, there have been over 300 reported sightings of Champ. The original story is related to Iroquois legends of giant snakes, which the Mohawk named Onyare’kowa. French cartographer Samuel de Champlain, the founder of Québec and the lake's namesake, is often claimed to be the first European to have sighted Champ, in 1609.
