Dark Hall
Dark Hall is an instrumental Jazz fusion band formed in April 1992. Biography The band started out as a trio with bassist Steve DiGiorgio, drummer Chris Dugan, and saxophone/flute player Flamp Sorvari. They were initially only a studio project, but soon after forming, they added guitarist Eric Cutler to the lineup. They recorded a demo they named Solace and distributed it through mail orders, local distributors, and several underground music fan-zines. In 1995, Cutler was replaced by Ken Schultz. The band released another untitled demo with 5 songs, which helped them become noticed and play more live shows. Another demo was recorded in 1998, and due to it being no longer produced, the 4 songs are available for download on their web site, along with 1 song from the 1994 demo. Jazz Fusion
Jazz fusion (also known as fusion and progressive jazz) is a music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. Electric guitars, amplifiers, and keyboards that were popular in rock and roll started to be used by jazz musicians, particularly those who had grown up listening to rock and roll. Jazz fusion arrangements vary in complexity. Some employ groove-based vamps fixed to a single key or a single chord with a simple, repeated melody. Others use elaborate chord progressions, unconventional time signatures, or melodies with counter-melodies. These arrangements, whether simple or complex, typically include improvised sections that can vary in length, much like in other forms of jazz. As with jazz, jazz fusion can employ brass and woodwind instruments such as trumpet and saxophone, but other instruments often substitute for these. Steve DiGiorgio
Steve Di Giorgio (born November 7, 1967) is an American bass guitarist. He is known for working with numerous heavy metal bands such as Sadus (of whom he was one of the co-founders), Death, Testament, Megadeth, Sebastian Bach, Iced Earth, Autopsy, Obituary, Control Denied, Dragonlord and Charred Walls of the Damned, and he has performed on over 50 albums as a guest, session or full-time band musician. Career Di Giorgio has played bass guitar in heavy metal and death metal bands such as Death, Autopsy, Control Denied, Ephel Duath, Obscura, Artension, Faust, Memorain, Painmuseum, Suicide Shift, Soen, Vintersorg, Dragonlord, Iced Earth, Sebastian Bach, Obituary, Megadeth, and is a founding member of Sadus. Chris Dugan
Chris Dugan (born May 11, 1973) is an American Grammy-winning audio engineer, cinematographer, record producer, musician, and singer, best known as the drummer of the Effection and as an audio engineer for Green Day. In 2018, along with Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, guitarist Jason White, and tour manager Bill Schneider, he formed The Coverups, for which he plays drums. History Dugan began his musical pursuits as a drummer. Needing to be resourceful, he learned to do basic recordings for his high school bands. Engineering was an instinctual progression and it was the purist recording styles of the '60s and '70s that really inspired him. In 1996, he opened Nu-Tone Studios in Pittsburg, California with fellow engineer Willie Samuels, renting space from local Studio 880 in Oakland.
