Dariush Pirniakan
Daryoush Pirniakan (Persian: داریوش پیرنیاکان) (b. 1955 in East Azerbaijan) is an Iranian musician, tar and setar player, and music researcher. Biography Daryoush Pirniakan, a musician and composer of Persian classical genre, learned tar and setar under the supervision of Mohammad Hasan Ozari, maestro Ali-Akbar Shahnazi, Dr. Daryoush Safvat, Yousef Foroutan, Saeed Hormozi, and Mahmoud Karimi. While being a student of late maestro Ali Akbar khan Shahnazi, he had the honor to study radif of Mirza Hossein-gholi (Persian: میرزا حسینقلی) and Shahnazi's advanced level repertoire (radif). After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran University (دانشگاه تهران), he started to work and teach at the Center for Preservation and Propagation of Persian Classical Music. Hadishahr
Hadishahr ( fa, هاديشهر; also Romanized as Hādīshahr, Hādī Shahr, Gargar, Alamdar) is a town in the Central District (Jolfa County), Central District of Jolfa County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 27,842, in 7,552 families. Near the town of Hadishahr, there's an ancient site of Kul Tepe Jolfa. It dates back to the Chalcolithic period (5000–4500 BC). Mohammad Reza Shajarian
Mohammad-Reza Shajarian ( fa, محمدرضا شجريان; , 23 September 1940 – 8 October 2020) was an Iranian singer and master ('' Ostad'') of Persian traditional music. He was also known for his skills in Persian calligraphy and humanitarian activities. Shajarian started his singing career in 1959 at Radio Khorasan, rising to prominence in the 1960s with his distinct singing style. His main teachers were Ahmad Ebadi, Esmaeil Mehrtash, Abdollah Davami, and Nour-Ali Boroumand. He also learned the vocal styles of singers from previous generations, including Reza Gholi Mirza Zelli, Fariborz Manouchehri, Ghamar Molouk Vaziri, Eghbal Azar, and Taj Isfahani. He has cited legendary Persian tar soloist Jalil Shahnaz as highly influential to his development, indicating that he has often tried to mimic Shahnaz's playing style in his singing. Shahram Nazeri
Shahram Nazeri ( ku, شارام نازری, translit=Şaram Nazirî, ; born 18 February 1950) is a contemporary Iranian tenor of Kurdish origin from Kermanshah, Iran, who sings Sufi music, classical and traditional Kurdish and Persian music. He has been accompanied by some of the masters of Iranian traditional music such as Jalil Shahnaz, Hossein Alizadeh, Jalal Zolfonoun, Parviz Meshkatian and Faramarz Payvar. He has also worked with his son Hafez, a composer. Nazeri was the first musician to include Rumi's poetry within Persian music, thus establishing a tradition of Sufi music within both Persian classical music and Kurdish music. Parviz Meshkatian ( Persian: پرويز مشكاتيان; May 15, 1955 – September 21, 2009) was an Iranian musician, composer, researcher and university lecturer. Biography Born in Nishapur, Meshkatian entered the Tehran Academy of Arts, where he studied music theory and was introduced to ''radif'' (the Persian classical music repertoire) by the masters Nour Ali Boroumand, Dariush Safvat, Mohammad Taghi Massoudieh, and Mehdi Barkeshli. He focused on the ''radif'' of Mirza Abdollah for santur and setar. Meshkatian was one of the founding members of the Aref Ensemble, founded in 1977, as well as the Sheyda Ensemble. Aref Ensemble
The Aref Ensemble (in Persian: گروه عارف) was a Persian classical music ensemble. It was founded by maestro Parviz Meshkatian, Hossein Alizadeh, and Mohammad Reza Lotfi in 1977. The group was named after Aref Ghazvini, early 20th century Iranian poet and composer. Aref was dedicated to the promotion and advancement of Persian classical music. To some critics the Aref Ensemble, together with the Sheyda Ensemble (also founded by Meshkatian), revolutionised Persian music.
