Darius J. Brown
Darius J. Brown is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party. A former Wilmington city councilmember, he was elected to the Delaware Senate in 2018, representing district 2. Career Between June 2010 and January 2011, Brown was a constituent relations specialist for Connections, a nonprofit state contractor. From 2011 to 2016, Brown worked as an independent contract lobbyist for Connections and other companies. He became vice president of constituent relations for Connections in November 2016. In 2012, Brown was elected to the Wilmington City Council to represent the 3rd district. He unsuccessful ran for city treasurer in 2016. Brown was elected to the Delaware Senate in 2018 after winning 2,115 votes (38.4%) in a four-way primary with no opponent in the general election. David P. Sokola (born July 28, 1955) is an American politician and a Democratic member of the Delaware Senate since 1991, representing District 8. He earned a BS from the University of Delaware. Margaret Rose Henry
Margaret Rose Henry (born June 20, 1944) is an American politician. She was a member of the Delaware Senate from 1994 to 2018. In September 2017, Henry announced she would not seek reelection to her District 2 seat. Senator Henry earned her BA from Texas Southern University and her MA from Springfield College. Henry was the first African-American woman elected to the Delaware Senate. During her time in office, she worked to reform the juvenile justice system and helped create a needle-exchange program. In March 2018, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. ''The News Journal'' is the main newspaper for Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding area. It is headquartered in unincorporated New Castle County, Delaware, near New Castle, and is owned by Gannett. History The ancestry of the News Journal reflects the mergers of several newspapers. It is dated to Oct. 1, 1866 when Howard M. Jenkins and Wilmer Atkinson started the afternoon publication ''Daily Commercial''. In 1877, that paper was absorbed into a rival, the ''Every Evening'', founded by Georgetown native William T. Croasdale. Delaware Senate
The Delaware Senate is the upper house of the Delaware General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Delaware. It is composed of 21 Senators, each of whom is elected to a four-year term, except when reapportionment occurs, at which time Senators may be elected to a two-year term. There is no limit to the number of terms that a Senator may serve. The Delaware Senate meets at the Legislative Hall in Dover.
