Darius Durham
Darius Tyrone Durham (born May 27, 1961) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the San Diego State Aztecs, twice earning all-conference honors in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 10th round in the 1983 NFL draft and joined the 49ers later that year as a free agent. Early life Born in Long Beach, California, Durham grew up in Compton with three sisters and a brother, raised by their single mother, Mary. The San Diego State Aztecs are the college athletics in the United States, intercollegiate athletic teams that represent San Diego State University (SDSU). An offensive coordinator (OC) is a Coach (sport), coach responsible for a gridiron football team's offense (American football), offense. Ted Tollner
Alfred Theodore Tollner (born May 29, 1940) is an American former football coach. He was the head coach at the University of Southern California (USC) from 1983 to 1986 and San Diego State University (SDSU) from 1994 to 2001, compiling an overall college football record of 69–68–1. Tollner also was an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons, including stints as offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions. Playing career Tollner attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he played quarterback. Tollner was on the 1960 Mustangs team that suffered a plane crash in Toledo, Ohio. He survived the plane crash; however, 22 people of the 45 people on board were killed, including 16 of his teammates. With the Mustangs from 1959 through 1961, Tollner compiled 2,244 passing yards. Forward Pass
In several forms of football, a forward pass is the throwing of the ball in the direction in which the offensive team is trying to move, towards the defensive team's goal line. The legal and widespread use of the forward pass distinguishes gridiron football (American football and Canadian football) from rugby football (rugby union, union and rugby league, league) from which the gridiron code evolved, in which the play is illegal. Illegal and experimental forward passes had been attempted as early as 1876, but the first legal forward pass in American football took place in 1906, after a change in the rules. Claude Gilbert
Claude L. Gilbert (July 10, 1932 – January 6, 2024) was an American college football coach. He served as head football coach at San Diego State University from 1973 to 1980, and San Jose State University from 1984 to 1989, compiling a career record of 99–56–3. Early life and education Born in Oklahoma on July 10, 1932, Gilbert graduated from Bakersfield High School in Bakersfield, California in 1950. He went to Bakersfield College for a year and played on the football team before serving in the United States Air Force for the Korean War. He returned to Bakersfield College, then transferred to San Jose State University in 1956 and lettered in football for two years with the San Jose State Spartans. In gridiron football, double coverage is a state of defensive playcalling where two defensive players are assigned to "cover" one offensive player. This situation is often seen with standout wide receivers and running backs. It is extremely rare to have two defensive backs Man-to-man defense, man-cover a single receiver. Commentators who use the term "double-coverage" almost always mean a cornerback covering a wide receiver man-to-man, with a safety (gridiron football position), safety playing "over the top" (typically trying to stay in front of the wide receiver's route) for deep ball assistance.
