Daren Machesney (born December 13, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who last played for the Dundas Real McCoys in the Allan Cup Hockey (ACH) during the 2013–2014 season. Playing career Machesney was selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America that serves as the primary developmental league of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league comprises 32 teams, with 26 in the United States and 6 in Canada. As of the 2024–25 AHL season, all 32 NHL teams held affiliations with an AHL team. Historically, when an NHL team does not have an AHL affiliate, its players are assigned to AHL teams affiliated with other NHL franchises.
