Darcy Proper
Darcy Proper is an American mastering engineer based at Valhalla Studios, NY in Auburn, NY. In 2008, she became the first woman engineer to win a Grammy for the Best Surround Sound Album. To date, she has won four Grammy Awards and been nominated for eleven. She has mastered historical reissues for artists such as Johnny Cash, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra, and stereo releases for artists such as Steely Dan, The Eagles, Donald Fagen, and Porcupine Tree. Early life and education Proper grew up in Upstate New York performing in choir, jazz ensemble, and school band. She was initially uncomfortable as a performer, preferring to listen to and analyze her parents' music collection. In addition to music, she excelled in math and science. Ronald Prent
Ronald Prent is a Dutch mix engineer best known for pioneering in surround sound mixing and immersive audio. In 2019, Prent received a Grammy nomination in the category of “ Best Immersive Audio Album” for the Simple Minds album ''Symbol''. He has also worked with Rammstein, The Scorpions, Mink DeVille, Udo Lindenberg, Tina Turner. Def Leppard, Freddie Mercury, Queensryche, Celine Dion, Dire Straits, the Police, and Herbert Grönemeyer. The 'Wisseloord Studio'' is a recording studio in Hilversum, Netherlands. It was officially opened on 19 January 1978 by Prince Claus. The studios were founded by electronics company Philips, to enable their PolyGram artists to record in a professional environment. Initially, there were three studios, but this was expanded to five. In the early days, the studios were mainly used by Dutch artists. Very quickly, international musicians such as Elton John, Scorpions, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, the Police, Tina Turner, Electric Light Orchestra, U2, Chris Brown and NAS have used the facilities.
