Dara Viravong
Dara Viravong Kanlagna or Dara Viravong; Douangchampa (born 1940) is a Lao writer. She was involved with work that led to the creation of the Digital Library of Lao Manuscripts. Life Kanlagna was born in Laos in 1940. Her father, Sila Viravong Maha Sila Viravong (, ) was a Lao people, Lao scholar of traditional Lao literature, history, and culture. Laos
Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR), is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. Digital Library Of Lao Manuscripts
The National Library of Laos (Lao language: ຫໍສະໝຸດແຫ່ງຊາດ, romanized ''hosamud aehngsad'') is a library located in Vientiane, Laos. First established on 1 July 1956, it moved to its current location in 1988. The National Library plays an important role in preserving materials about Laos. Since 1989, it has operated the Lao Ancient Manuscript Preservation Project which documents ancient text written in Lao and Sanskrit. Starting in October 2007, the library has collaborated with the University of Passau and the Berlin State Library (Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin Preußischer Kulturbesitz) to create the Digital Library of Lao Manuscripts (ໂຄງການຫໍສະໝຸດດິຈິຕອລໜັງສືໃບລານລາວ). The government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic has granted permission for the manuscript collection to be made accessible via the Internet. A new national library was completed in 2017. Sila Viravong
Maha Sila Viravong (, ) was a Lao people, Lao scholar of traditional Lao literature, history, and culture. In the 1930s, backed by the Buddhist Institute in Vientiane and the Buddhist Academic Council, he added an additional set of characters to the Lao script, in order to support Pali and Sanskrit, thereby filling the missing gaps in the existing script. While the Buddhist Institute published books that utilised these extended Indic characters, they did not see widespread usage, and fell out of usage by 1975. In 2019, the extended Indic characters were added to Unicode 12. He designed the current Flag of Laos in 1945. Douangdeuane Bounyavong (; ''Dūangdư̄an Bunyāvong''; born 11 June 1947, also known by her maiden name Douangdeuane Viravong), pen name Dok Ked ''(Dō̜kkēt)'', is a Laotian writer. Her best known story is ''Kam Pha Phi Noi'' ('The Little Orphan and the Spirit’). Life She was born in 1947. Her father, Sila Viravong, was a prominent Lao scholar who designed the flag of the country. He had fourteen children and three children, Douangdeuane Bounyavong, Dara Viravong and Pakian Viravong are prominent Laotian writers. She married Outhine Bounyavong, a contemporary Laotian fiction writer.
