Danny Phiri
Danny Phiri (born 25 July 1989) is a Zimbabwean professional footballer, who plays as a defensive midfielder for Golden Arrows and the Zimbabwe national team. Club career Phiri's youth career included spells with the junior sides of Amazulu and Railstars. In 2009, Phiri made the move into senior football when he agreed to join Bantu Rovers. He stayed with Bantu for two years before joining Chicken Inn. In 2015, he and Chicken Inn won the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League and Phiri subsequently won the Soccer Star of the Year award. In April 2016, Phiri, along with teammates Tafadzwa Kutinyu and Moses Demera, left Zimbabwe to attend a trial at Lamontville Golden Arrows. International career In January 2014, coach Ian Gorowa, invited him to be a part of the Zimbabwe squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship. Norton, Zimbabwe
Norton is a commuter town and suburb of Harare in the province of Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. It is located about 40 km west of Harare on the main road and railway line connecting Harare and Bulawayo. Demographics According to the 1982 Population Census, the town had a population of 12,360. This rose to 20,405 in the 1992 census 44,054 in the 2002 census, and 67,591 in the 2012 census. History The settlement began in 1914 when a railway siding was built. The town was named after the Norton family who were farming in the area since the 1890s and were killed in the First ''Chimurenga'' in 1896. 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations
The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (abbreviated as AFCON 2017 or CAN 2017), known as the Total 2017 Africa Cup of Nations for sponsorship reasons, was the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men's football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament was scheduled to be hosted by Libya, until CAF rescinded its hosting rights in August 2014 due to the Second Libyan civil war. The tournament was instead hosted by Gabon. Bulawayo
Bulawayo (, ; ) is the second largest city in Zimbabwe, and the largest city in the country's Matabeleland region. The city's population is disputed; the 2022 census listed it at 665,940, while the Bulawayo City Council claimed it to be about 1.2 million. Barbourfields Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located iBarbourfields Suburbin Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The stadium is currently used mostly for association football, football matches. It is owned by Bulawayo, Bulawayo City Council and it is the home of Highlanders F.C., one of the biggest association football clubs in Zimbabwe.
