Danny McCormack (hurler)
Daniel "Danny" McCormack (1876-1938) was an Irish hurler who played for the Dublin senior team. Born in Borrisoleigh, County Tipperary, McCormack first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-four when he first linked up with the Dublin senior. He made his debut during the 1899 championship. McCormack immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won three Leinster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. History Faughs GAA Club was founded in Easter 1885 in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. Its inaugural meeting was held at 4 Gardiner's Row, home of Michael Cusack. The club name, Faughs, is derived from the Irish language slogan, , anglicized as Faugh A Ballagh, meaning "clear the way". When the Dublin County Board was formed in 1886, Larry O'Toole was on the committee. At this time the Faughs colours were amber and black, and the club played both hurling and football. The Faughs took part in the first Dublin championships in 1887, and were winners of the Dublin Senior Football Championship in 1889. The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The final, usually held on the first Sunday in June, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during May and June, and the results determine which team receives the Bob O'Keeffe Cup. The championship was previously played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team lost they were eliminated from the championship; however, as of 2018, the championship involved a round-robin system. The 1912 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 26th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 19 May 1912 and ended on 17 November 1912. Kilkenny were the defending champions, and successfully defended their title following a 2–1 to 1–3 defeat of Cork in the final. Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. Sponsored by Go-Ahead, it is therefore officially known as the Go-Ahead Dublin Senior Hurling Championship. The Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Dublin GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Dublin and the Dublin county teams.
