Daniel Noel Drinkwater (born 5 March 1990) is an English former professional association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. Having come through the youth academy at Manchester United F.C., Manchester United, he spent time on loan with Huddersfield Town A.F.C., Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City F.C., Cardiff City, Watford F.C., Watford and Barnsley F.C., Barnsley. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. A loan fee can be arranged by the parent club as well as them asking to pay a percentage of their wages. Association football Players may be loaned out to other clubs for several reasons. Dead rubber is a term used in sporting parlance to describe a match in a series where the series result has already been decided by earlier matches. The dead rubber match therefore has no effect on the winner and loser of the series, other than the total number of matches won and lost and the statistics of the players. The term is used in Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup tennis, as well as in international cricket, field hockey, the FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Rugby World Cup and the State of Origin series.
