Danny Corcoran (sports Administrator)
Thomas Daniel "Danny" Corcoran is an Australian sports administrator, having worked for AFL clubs Essendon (1990–1995, 2010–2013) and Melbourne (1998–2003), and for Athletics Australia (2004–2010). In 2010 he became the inaugural general manager of rugby operations at the Melbourne Rebels. Career At Essendon Corcoran was football operations manager 1990–1995. From there he moved to Melbourne, where he was the football manager 1998–2003. He joined Athletics Australia in 2004 to be CEO. In April 2010 he announced he would resign from AA to become the inaugural general manager of rugby operations at the Melbourne Rebels. Essendon Football Club
The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. The club’s first recorded game took place on 7 June 1873 against a Carlton Second 20. From 1878 until 1896, the club played in the Victorian Football Association then joined seven other clubs in October 1896 to form the breakaway Victorian Football League (later changed to AFL in 1990). The Melbourne Rebels is an Australian professional rugby union team based in Melbourne. They made their debut in SANZAR's Super Rugby tournament in 2011. James Hird
James Albert Hird (born 4 February 1973) is a former professional Australian rules football player and past senior coach of the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hird played as a midfielder and half-forward, but he was often given free rein by then-Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy to play wherever he thought necessary. Hird was a highly decorated footballer, with accolades including the 1996 Brownlow Medal and membership of the Australian Football Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was listed by journalist Mike Sheahan as the 20th greatest player of all time in the AFL-commissioned book ''The Australian Game of Football''. Mark Thompson (footballer)
Mark "Bomber" Thompson (born 19 November 1963) is a retired Australian rules footballer and former senior coach. He played 202 games for the Essendon Football Club from 1983 to 1996, captaining the side from 1992 until 1995. After retiring, he was an assistant coach at Essendon and then at North Melbourne before becoming the senior coach of the Geelong Football Club from 2000 to 2010 and coaching them to two premierships. Bruce Reid (doctor)
Bruce Malcolm Reid (4 April 1946 – 27 October 2020) was an Australian doctor and former Australian rules footballer. He was the senior medical officer at the Essendon Football Club and played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life and career Reid, who originally played football for the North Balwyn Methodists, played two senior games for Hawthorn in the 1966 VFL season and one further game the following year. Reid was a member of Preston's 1968 and 1969 Victorian Football Association premiership teams. Having graduated from university with a medical degree while at Preston, Reid worked as a club doctor with Richmond from 1976 to 1979.
