Danny Briggs (golfer)
Danny Briggs (born November 30, 1960) is an American professional golfer who has spent several years on the PGA Tour. College career At Texas A&M, Briggs was a three-time All-American and three-time All- Southwest Conference. In 1982, Briggs led the Aggies to the team conference title and a 4th-place finish at the NCAA Championships while finishing as the individual conference champion and 8th place individually in the NCAA. Briggs graduated in 1983. Professional career Briggs was a member of the PGA Tour in 1986, 1988, 1999, 2000, 2004, and 2005. Briggs has also spent a large number of years on the Web.com Tour and has played in several Champions Tour events. His best finish on the PGA Tour was tied for third at the 1986 Tallahassee Open. Abilene, Texas
Abilene ( ) is a city in Taylor and Jones Counties in Texas, United States. Its population was 125,182 at the 2020 census, making it the 27th-most populous city in the state of Texas. It is the principal city of the Abilene metropolitan statistical area, which had an estimated population of 169,893, as of 2016. It is the county seat of Taylor County. Dyess Air Force Base is located on the west side of the city. Abilene is located off Interstate 20, between exits 279 on its western edge and 292 on the east. It is west of Fort Worth. Bill Murchison
William J. Murchison Jr. (born August 2, 1956) is an American professional golfer. Murchison played on the PGA Tour and its developmental tour (Ben Hogan Tour/Nike Tour, now Web.com Tour) from 1978 to 1996. On the PGA Tour (1978–80, 1983, 1993), his best finish was T-12 at the 1980 B.C. Open. On the Nike Tour (1992, 1994–96), he won the 1995 Nike Tallahassee Open. Murchison won a total of thirty-four professional events on various tours, including the Spacecoast, North Florida PGA, and Mid-Atlantic Tour. His career low round was 61, shot at the Goodyear Golf Club during a tournament on the National Golf Tour in 1979. Murchison served as the president and CEO of Murchison Drilling Schools, a company founded by his father, that trains oil field drilling personnel. 1987 PGA Tour Qualifying School Graduates
This is a list of the 1987 PGA Tour Qualifying School graduates. 54 players earned their 1988 PGA Tour card through Q-School in 1987. The tournament was played over 108 holes at Pine Lakes Golf Club and Matanzas Golf Club, in Palm Coast, Florida. Those earning cards split the $100,000 purse, with the winner earning $15,000. John Huston was the medallist. Jim Hallet finished in second place. After several attempts in the mid-1980s, Hallet finally made it on to the PGA Tour. Several former PGA Tour winners entered the tournament trying to regain full-time status. They included Dave Eichelberger, John Fought, Barry Jaeckel, Bobby Cole, and Leonard Thompson. Eichelberger and Thompson were the only ones that were successful. Fought was disqualified in the first round for signing an incorrect scorecard.
