Daniel Segers
Daniel Segers (born 1 February 2001) is a Belgian sprinter. He was the Belgian indoor national champion in 2025 in the 400 metres. He previously won the Belgian Athletics Championships in the long jump. Career From Dendermonde, as a junior athlete he competed in the decathlon. He represented Belgium at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival in Győr, Hungary winning gold in the long jump. He won the senior Belgian Athletics Championships long jump title in Brussels in 2020, with a best jump of 7.89 metres. Having given up long jump due to a succession of injuries, he switched to train under Jacques Borlée from mid-October 2024. In February 2025, he won the Belgian national indoor 400 metres title. He subsequently competed for Belgium at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The mixed 4 × 400 metres relay at the 2025 World Athletics Relays was held at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China on 10 and 11 May. The event served as a qualifying event for the 2025 World Athletics Championships, with the top 14 teams securing qualification to the World Championships. Apeldoorn (; Dutch Low Saxon: ) is a municipality and city in the province of Gelderland in the centre of the Netherlands. The 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held from 6 to 9 March 2025 at the Omnisport Apeldoorn arena in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. The four-day competition features thirteen men's, thirteen women's and one mixed athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. Jacques Borlée
Jacques Borlée (born 27 September 1957) is a former Belgian athlete, and the father and coach of athletes Olivia Borlée (b. 1986), Kevin (b. 1988), Jonathan (b. 1988) and Dylan Borlée (b. 1992). He was voted European Athletics Coach of the Year in 2011. He is the progenitor of the Borlée family. Early life Jacques Borlée was born in Stanleyville, in the Belgian Congo, in 1957, three years before the independence of the country. His father was the last Belgian governor of the Kivu province. The family moved to Brussels in Belgium in 1960. Jacques Borlée married Edith de Maertelaere, a former Belgian champion over 200m runner. They have five children together.
