Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Richard Schneemann (born January 23, 1997) is an American professional baseball utility player for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Schneemann played college baseball at Brigham Young University (BYU). He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 33rd round, with the 1,003rd overall selection, of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut with the rookie-level Arizona League Indians, hitting .206 in 41 games. Schneemann spent the 2019 campaign with the Single–A Lake County Captains, playing in 70 games and hitting .287/.366/.374 with two home runs and 30 RBI. Schneemann did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned to action in 2021 with Lake County and the Double–A Akron RubberDucks. In baseball, a utility player or utility man is a player who has the ability to play more than one position in the field and is primarily used as a substitute. The term super utility player may be used to refer to a player who can play all or most positions, or a player who regularly appears in the starting lineup at different positions. Description Utility infielders typically play both second base and shortstop, sometimes also third base, and more rarely first base. A "fourth outfielder" is likewise an outfielder who can play all three outfield positions but does not have the hitting skills to be a starting player.
