Daniel Hopwood
Daniel Hopwood is the president of the British Institute of Interior Design and a judge on the BBC's amateur design programme ''The Great Interior Design Challenge'' along with Kelly Hoppen. Hopwood graduated with a degree in architecture and then joined The Prince's Foundation. He has run his company 'Studio Hopwood' for the past twenty years. British Institute Of Interior Design
The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) is a professional organisation for commercial and residential interior designers in Britain. The current president of the institute is Lester Bennett. Establishment Founded in 1965 as the Interior Decorators and Designers Association, it merged in 2002 with the UK chapter of the International Interior Design Association becoming the British Interior Design Association. In 2009 the Secretary of State awarded it Institute status, and became the British Institute of Interior Design. In 2013 it subsumed the Interior Design Association, a business association representing interior designers working in the commercial sector. The Great Interior Design Challenge
''The Great Interior Design Challenge'' is a British television interior design competition broadcast on BBC Two from 20 January 2014 to 19 January 2017. Each series aims to find "Britain's best amateur interior designers". All programmes in the first three series have been presented by Tom Dyckhoff with the design tasks judged by Daniel Hopwood and Sophie Robinson. Interior designer Kelly Hoppen replaced Robinson as lead judge in series four, with Robinson becoming a guest judge along with Michelle Ogundehin, Elle Magazine's Decoration UK editor-in-chief. Each episode introduces a new location with distinctive architecture and focuses on a few participants at a time. Contestants have a main challenge – usually to make-over a room in the home of their allocated client – and an additional small task – such as the upcycling of an old item. Kelly Hoppen
Kelly Elaine Hoppen (born 28 July 1959) is a South African-born British interior designer, author, and proprietor of Kelly Hoppen Interiors. From 2013 to 2015, she was a "Dragon" on BBC Two's '' Dragons' Den''. Family Kelly Hoppen was born on 28 July 1959 in Cape Town, South Africa. Her mother Stephanie Hoppen (née Shub) is of Estonian-Jewish ancestry and her father Seymour Hoppen who was a member of the Weinstock family from Dublin, is of Irish-Jewish ancestry. When Hoppen was two, her family relocated to London. Hoppen briefly returned to South Africa when her father died. During her return to South Africa, she played in a rock band and was arrested and imprisoned for violating apartheid laws by mixing with black musicians. The Prince's Foundation
The Prince's Foundation (formerly the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture until 2001, the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment until 2012, and the Prince's Foundation for Building Community until 2018) is an educational charity established in 1986 by King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) to teach and demonstrate in practice those principles of traditional urban design and architecture which put people and the communities of which they are part at the centre of the design process. Sophie Robinson (designer)
Sophie Robinson is a British interior stylist, designer and journalist. She is a guest judge on BBC 2's '' The Great Interior Design Challenge''. Education and career Robinson attended Kingsley School in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Later, she studied 3D design at Brighton University in the late 1990s, intending to become a product or furniture designer. After graduating in 1997, Robinson moved to London where she had a workshop at Cockpit Arts, a social enterprise scheme which supports people to grow businesses. She initially began assisting with interior design projects to help pay her rent, which led to a career working on shopping pages in magazines before her first full-time job as an in-house stylist for the BBC Good Homes magazine from 2000 to 2005.
