In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Kickers Offenbach II, is a reserve team of German association football club Kickers Offenbach. The team, which during the times the senior side played in professional football, played as Kickers Offenbach Amateure, has on occasion played as high as the Hessenliga, the highest league in the state of Hesse. History Kickers Offenbach Amateure made a first appearance in higher league football when it won promotion to the Landesliga Hessen-Mitte in 1970 and went on to win this league in its first season there. The team then played in the tier three Amateurliga Hessen from 1971 to 1974 until being disbanded at the end of that season. It returned to Landesliga level in 1978, now to the Landesliga Hessen-Süd, where it finished runners-up on two occasions before winning the league in 1984. Offenbacher Kickers, also known as Kickers Offenbach, is a German association football club in Offenbach am Main, Hesse. The club was founded on 27 May 1901 in the Rheinischer Hof restaurant by footballers who had left established local clubs including ''Melitia'', ''Teutonia'', ''Viktoria'', ''Germania'' and ''Neptun''. From 1921 to 1925 they were united with ''VfB 1900 Offenbach'' as ''VfR Kickers Offenbach'' until resuming their status as a separate side, ''Offenbacher FC Kickers''. Kickers is a youth brand created in 1970 in France that produces a wide range of footwear and clothing. Kickers was bought in 2007 by the Royer group. Kickers are primarily popular amongst British school children, with Kickers 'Lo' style shoes being a popular choice of school shoes for British boys attending secondary school. Interested by all the barefooted youngsters wearing jeans, he developed a new shoe concept which he believed to be more compatible with the blue-jean generation.
