Daniel Gilmore
Daniel Gilmore (born 2 March 1983) is a former Australian rules footballer for the Fremantle Dockers in the Australian Football League. After playing nine games in 2004, he had a frustrating 2005, only playing two games and appearing emergency nine times. After playing mainly as a defender or wingman, in 2006 he was tried as a reserve ruckman due to injuries to regular ruckmen Aaron Sandilands and Justin Longmuir. At 91 kg and 191 cm tall he is much shorter than most other ruckmen and has to rely on his leap, speed and endurance to compete. In 2007, he continued to play as a ruckman because of long term injuries to Longmuir and Sandilands, and towards the end of the season produced some of his best football, gaining more than 20 disposals in 4 consecutive games, including a career high 31 against Essendon in round 19. South Fremantle Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The club plays in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) and the WAFL Women's (WAFLW), commonly going by the nickname the ''Bulldogs''. Sandover Medal
The Sandover Medal is an Australian rules football award, given annually since 1921 to the fairest and best player in the West Australian Football League. The award was donated by Alfred Sandover M.B.E., a prominent Perth hardware merchant and benefactor. Voting system After each match, the three field umpires (those umpires who control the flow of the game) confer and award a 3, 2 and 1 point vote to the players they regard as the best, second best, and third best in the match respectively. Voting wasn't always done this way. From 1985-2018, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point votes were given, from 1930–1984, 3, 2 and 1 point votes were given, and prior to 1930 there was only one vote per game. Just like similar "fairest and best" awards, for example the Brownlow and Magarey Medals, if a player is suspended for a reportable offence throughout the season then they become ineligible to win the award. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Brian Gilmore
Brian Phillip Gilmore (8 July 1933 – 29 November 1959) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Western Bulldogs, Footscray in the Australian Football League, Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1950s. Gilmore was a follower in Footscray's 1954 premiership side and had the honour of having the ball in his hands when the siren sounded. He also represented Victoria at interstate football. He was killed in a car accident near Wangaratta, Victoria in 1959. His grandson Daniel Gilmore played in the AFL for Fremantle.
