Daniel Fox (swimmer)
Daniel Fox (born 21 May 1994) is an Australian Paralympic swimmer. He won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. He represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, 2016 Rio Paralympics being awarded a bronze most recently in the 200m Freestyle S14 (classification), S14. He has won gold at the Global Games, the Arafura Games, World Championships, Can-Am Championships, Para Pan Pacific Championships, EnergyAustralia Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Daniel also holds the world record for the List of IPC world records in swimming – Men's long course, 50m freestyle (24.77) and the 100 metres freestyle, 100m freestyle record (53.50) in the S14 classification. S14 (classification)
S14, SB14, SM14 are disability swimming classifications used for categorising swimmers based on their level of disability. Definition This classification is for people with intellectual disabilities. History The classification was created by the International Paralympic Committee and has roots in a 2003 attempt to address "the overall objective to support and co-ordinate the ongoing development of accurate, reliable, consistent and credible sport focused classification systems and their implementation." For the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio, the International Paralympic Committee had a zero classification at the Games policy. This policy was put into place in 2014, with the goal of avoiding last minute changes in classes that would negatively impact athlete training preparations. The 100 metre freestyle is often considered to be the highlight (Blue Ribbon event) of the sport of swimming, like 100 metres in the sport of Athletics.
