Daniel Fisher (minister)
Daniel Fisher (1731–1807) was an English dissenting minister. Fisher was born in Cockermouth, Cumberland in 1731. From 1748 to 1751, he attended Plaisterers' Hall Academy in London, which was a dissenting academy that provided for the training of Congregational ministers in the Calvinism, Calvinist tradition. In 1752 accepted an invitation to minister to the Independent congregation at Common Close in Warminster, Wiltshire. While in Warminster, he ran a school. In 1771 he was appointed the resident tutor in classics and mathematics at Independent College, Homerton, Homerton College. Following the death of John Conder in 1781 he was appointed theology tutor, from 1781 to 1803. He was a rigid Calvinist and staunch dissenter. His students included Ezekiel Blomfield. He died at Hackney Central, Hackney on 14 August 1807 after a lingering illness, in which he lost the use of all his faculties. Daniel Fisher (paleontologist)
Daniel Fisher is a paleontologist who studies paleobiology and the extinction of mastodons. He received his Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Harvard University in 1975 and is the Claude W. Hibbard Collegiate Professor of Paleontology and the Director of the Museum of Paleontology at the University of Michigan. His research on mammoth tusks has helped to shape the common understanding of mammoth life. He worked as a professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Rochester until 1979 when he moved to the University of Michigan to join the Department of Geological Sciences. In 2015, he led the dig in of a gigantic mammoth from a farmer’s field in Michigan which is helping researchers to conclude about when humans first came to the Americas. Hanover College
Hanover College is a private college in Hanover, Indiana, United States, affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Founded in 1827 by Reverend John Finley Crowe, it is Indiana's oldest private college. Pittsburgh Panthers women's volleyball is the National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA NCAA Division I, Division I College athletics, intercollegiate volleyball program of the University of Pittsburgh, often referred to as "Pitt", located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Daniel Thomas Fisher (born March 19, 1976) is an American retired indoor and beach volleyball player. He is the current head coach of the Pittsburgh Panthers women's volleyball, University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team. Personal life Fisher is a native of Goleta, California. He graduated from University of the Pacific (United States), Pacific in 1999 with a major in sociology and minor in religious studies. In 2008, he returned to Pacific as an assistant coach on the men and women's team and simultaneously earned a master's degree in sport science. Fisher is married to Joni Fisher. They have a daughter, Eden, and son, Max. Fisher enjoys playing the guitar/ukulele in his spare time. Antoine Georges
Antoine Georges (born 1961) is a French physicist. He is a professor at the Collège de France in Paris (where he holds the chair of Condensed Matter Physics) and the director of the Center for Computational Quantum Physics at the Flatiron Institute, New York. In 2023, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Early life and education Georges' interest in science began during his teenage years at his father's laboratory at the French Institute of Health and Medical Research. Dan Fisher (born 1958) is a former Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives representing District 60 from 2012 to 2016. Fisher did not seek re-election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2016. On August 22, 2017, Fisher declared that he would run for governor of Oklahoma in 2018. Daniel Fisher (Australian Politician)
Daniel Fisher (11 November 1812 – 2 June 1884) was a grain merchant and politician in the young colony of South Australia. History Daniel Fisher was born in Bradford, Wiltshire, son of James Fisher (1785–1837) and his wife Sarah Fisher (c. 1787– ), and was transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) aged 15, for what he was later to describe as "an unfortunate mistake" and "a boyish escapade, involving no moral offence" for which he was later exonerated and, on a petition from John Baker received a Royal Pardon. He married Harriet Brown in Hobart Town on 6 November 1837 (Rev. William Bedford officiating) and moved to South Australia aboard the ''Timbo'', arriving at Port Adelaide in April 1846. He set up in business as a cornfactor and seedsman (grain merchant) in Rundle Street. Daniel Fisher (Dedham)
Daniel Fisher represented Dedham, Massachusetts in the Great and General Court. He served from 1700 to 1704 and then again in 1712 and 1713. He also served nine terms as selectman beginning in 1690. In the years leading to the American Revolution Dedham had a number of men rise to protect the liberties of the colonists. When Governor Edmund Andros was deposed and arrested in 1689 it was Dedham's Daniel Fisher who "burst into ohnUsher's house, to drag forth the tyrant by the collar, to bind him and cast him into a fort" and eventually send him back to England to stand trial. Before being sent to England, he was brought to the home of dominion official John Usher and held under close watch.
